Seems a bit harsh but I don't need to go 125mph in Denmark fortunately

Not compared to Ontario and BC. In those provinces you get your vehicle confiscated for only some 25mph over the limit. Big fines, towing, storage costs, etc, etc. Probably cheaper in the long run to just give them your bike and let them sell it (like in DK) to recoup the costs.
