Hey, guys got a 2006St 1300, just curious, I've had a gold wing, but just curious about the s.T what is a safe operating R?PM range, I know the bike's old.I just wanna take care of it.I don't wanna get it into any danger range. So any input would be kind , thank you very much

In comparison to the ST's motor, my F800GT with an 800cc twin was like a lawn mower. I rode with some Canadians for a week. The only way I could keep up was to drop down another gear (or two) than what I would normally do and let the RPMs stay up in the 5500-8500 range all day long.

Not only did I keep up with them, but the engine didn't seem fazed at all by it and in fact, smoothed out.

I doubt you could hurt the ST's motor unless you drained the oil and forgot to put the drain plug back in.

Lol thats good to hear , probably be my last bite. I'm in my 60s, and I want it to last. It's only got 27000 on it, so thank you very much. I appreciate that.

Got\n Another question, hopefully somebody can chime in on this, I've got a 2006, and I'm wondering if the battery outside cover is missing, or they didn't make it for the 2006 also the rear shock adjuster knob cover. Is there a cover that goes around that? Also on the 2006, the bike is old. I can't find that information. Does anybody know? Thank you

The covers were not included until the 08 model year. They can be adapted to the earlier bikes with a little ingenuity.

Under the red line, as suggested is best.
Riding around town deserves a comment. Select a gear that gives you best throttle-acceleration start. My 1991 and 2006 seem to be ready to jump at 3500 rpm. If you need to escape a situation promptly, fifth gear at 40 mph may not get you out of harm's way promptly.
