I like the concept of various smart helmets over the last two or three decades but they never really got into into production. I don't call Kickstarter-type ventures actual production. They've always been every pricey. I don't see this as an actual "smart" helmet but it is fairly feature-rich.

But it's got to be pricey considering the typical recommendation of replacing every five years. I go my condition over the years. If it looks good at five years then maybe got towards 10.
 
Well, "smart" is only the noise cancelling system of the ANC version (a feature actually making sense IMO...)
Don't know if I'd actually like some HUD projected into the visor, omnipresent most likely only a distraction, while with my old fashioned setup I can control when I deem the situation ahead safe to take my eyes briefly off it to absorb additional instrument/navigation info... (the main reason I've the GPS audio feed in my helmet headset...)

And these days I see KISS as a feature; batteries, wires, lights, rubberized push-buttons... too many things that could fail while down the road and are likely hard to replace in the (near) future, cause the MFG moved on to the next product series...
I like redundant systems, if one fails the others keep functioning...

If the SLR II in my Neotec keels up, I simply pull it and stick a new one in...
 
It's bit like the '3 in 1' computer printer/scanner/copier machines.
They are absolutely great until they are not.
If you lose one function, then you either toss the whole thing or buy a machine for just that one function.
If you do get one, better check on your riding gear coverage from your insurance as it may not be enough in a crash to cover all your stuff.
Don't ask me how I know that .... ;)
 
I have had the outrush helmet for the past 2 years and I love it. The speakers work well, the microphone for calls is like your in the living room. So far the batteries have never let me down even on 4 hour rides. Easy to use and easy to connect. Like any helmet, after a few years the noise reduction tends to reduce as the fit loosens.
 
With the new Sena products, if you are running mesh communications and using it much, the batteries will disappate pretty soon.
I carry a little 'phone charging block' in my left front jacket pocket that I plug into the Sena when that happens.
Or you can charge them up at lunch if you are a 'lunch stopper'. ;)
