yeah, new farkle for ze GF's Schuberth C3 pro Women + SENA SC10U intercom...

the 2-button control (placed on top of the cheek-cushion, behind the visor! 😑) on the SC10U is far from convenient nor practical:

shopping

in fact will "press [-] for 1 second" activate only "group intercom", but not our already paired bike2bike link...
whilst pressing the center button on a BT remote works flawless for opening the channel to the SRL-II(I) in my NEOTEC...

the (previous) RC4 4-button remote however has to be clipped on the left grip, hindering bike control plus has pretty small buttons to be groped with thick gloves...

The RC3 should cure that, featuring buttons large enough to be fat-fingered without having to look down...

no banana at the office, so instead my paw for scale:

adhesive Velcros, double sided tapes, a rubber base with a clip at the underside (placing it on a jacket sleeve), manuals and even a spare battery are included...

tonight we will check:
- pairing the thingy with her SC10U
- negotiate where and how to install the RC3 on her NT700VA ;)

I looked at all the Sena remotes for my SRL3, but they don't seem to work according to the docs. I also didn't like the term "mostly waterproof," Prices here are $60 for the rc1 & wr01, $70 for the rc3 and $140 for the rc4

I've no problem reaching for the keypad of the SRL-II(I) on the left of my NEOTEC...
RC3 and RC4 can be found below € 40,- over here...

However, we don't do much with our SENA's...
I listen to tunes from the onboard stereo + audio prompts from the GPS...
ze GF does not listen to her Zumo 220 (for whatever reasons...)
at occasion we key the paired bike2bike for taking a break, food, fuel, etc... and that is what we need the RC for...

While skimming across the SENA forum or the FB group I observe folks pretty much ignoring any owners manual as well as the (obvious) technical limitations,
bur seriously expecting the 'magical wonderland' from those devices...

Alright...

after not finding any accommodating surface/space on the NT700VA,
we simply stuck the RC3 remote on the left side of the Schuberth C3 pro...
as per ze GF's instruction I might add... ;)

Pairing it with with her worked rather quick and flawless,
getting it to actually do the intended job not so much...

me pressing the center button on my SRL-II opening the connection to her SC10U just fine, always, reliable...

her pressing the center button on the RC3 did... exactly nothing... 🤨

so while looking stupid, wearing our helmets sitting on the couch, I noticed her
headset whispering something like "... establishing intercom ..." on which I quickly pressed my center button...

What you know, suddenly it works... again... as it did before... 🤔

The RC3 itself is quite dull... except during pairing or upon powering up no illumination, nothing...

Its supposed to be fully waterproof... rubber lid/seal over the battery slot, etc...
but behold: there is a hole in the housing to jam a paperclip wire through for ejecting the battery...
great, an opening from the outside right into the battery compartment... smart, very smart...
already wondering about the first ride in a downpour... time will tell...

Many years ago, our sport rider club used the very old-style Chatterbox communicators (pre-Bluetooth) which used the common FRS radio frequency.
They worked great, especially with the handle bar- mounted Push To Talk button. The voice activated feature was tricky to set up and the mic often opened due to wind noise, so the PTT was perfect.
We would often ride with 6 or more riders, especially on our semi-annual trips to Suches / TWO, and we didn't any each other with mindless banter, but it was handy for stops, police, road conditions, etc.
We had some great trips, but some of us (them) got old, and others switched to dual sport riding, some moved away, some moved off our planet, and there are only a handful of us left.
We were the Floribama Riders (FBR), as most of us lived in Florida or Alabama.
Nostalgia.
Or days gone by.

I had one of these on the bike for a couple of three years, It even fell off and was run over, still worked. Rain, sleet, snow, no trouble, years of dust is what I think finally did it in. Pairing was touchy but the skip function was great. I use the Zumo now for music control.
