Helmets Shoei RF-1200 helmet vs Scorpion EXO-T1200 Freeway helmet?

While I have not personally compared both of those helmets against each other, I can tell you that they're not even in the same market segment. The Scorpion EXO-T1200 is a nice helmet, but it's not even in the same ballpark as the Shoei RF-1200.

I have tried Shoei helmets before, and their attention to detail and quality of materials is really a step above. If you want a good helmet, the Scorpion is fine (and in fact, I've been considering one myself). But if your pocketbook can afford it, the Shoei is like moving up to a Cadillac when you've been accustomed to driving Chevys.

I picked up a 2 year old new old stock RF1200 from www.motorcyclecloseouts.com for $350. I'm just not going to pay the going rate for new model Shoei and Arai helmets anymore. The prices are ridiculous.
Their prices seem correlated to age and stock. Their Neotec II prices are a good deal higher than a local retailer here but I guess there are no old stock closeout Neotec II helmets yet.

Yeah, they didn't have any deals on the Neotec when I bought mine.

Thanks for all your feedback. I get it that the Shoei RF-1200 is the preferred. I currently have a RF-1000 which is obviously past due for replacement. Comfort wise I find the Bell Qualifier DLX MIPS and the Scorpion EXO-T1200 to fit my XL melon a bit nicer than the Shoei. I'm negative on the Bell because I'm not a fan of the transition lens. Swapping that out is easy but extra $$. Also, thanks for the tip on www.motorcyclecloseouts.com. New site for me and their inventory of the RF-1200 prompts me to revisit my fitting locally as I can't swallow the going rate.
