Good morning everyone

The French roast is ready for you, so come enjoy some and share whatever's on your mind. And, Happy Birthday Martin!

It's 38°F and clear in Rockville. A high around 50 under partly sunny skies will help continue the melt-off of the remaining month-old crud, but that'll make for very sloppy conditions off the pavement. I've not checked but assume the ground is still pretty hard-frozen not far below the surface.

Yesterday was a second day of rest as my corpus fought against whatever invading microorganisms were besieging it. I never felt particularly bad, just never felt really good either. Having the opportunity to laze around, I took it.

I'll play some uke today- did a little bit yesterday before Mrs. Fun started a game of dominoes- and see what else develops. Perhaps a walk to our favorite breakfast place. That certainly wouldn't do me any harm, and may do some outright good.

Stay safe and well everyone and tell your dear ones you love them. Do it today, NOW, for tomorrow may be too late.

Good morning all!
Thanks for today’s coffee administration, Keith!
It’s another warm beautiful day here on the banks of the Caloosahatchee River!
Presently 64/86f, or 17/30c
Not sure of today’s program, I didn’t get much accomplished yesterday so I’d better finish that!
At least I’m sleeping better these days…
I’m probably going to regret that statement…
WB

Good morning, and thanks for the coffee start, Keith.
I hope you feel better, soon.

It's 30 and cloudy in MA this morning, rising to 32 with more clouds and snow showers forecast.
We got about 1" of snow yesterday, due to the off and on snow.

I managed to get out for a walk with the neighbor's dog, yesterday, for about 4.5 miles in the snowy trails of the "Outback".
One of her owner's is home due to school vacation, and she was under the weather. That time of year, I guess.

Brenda has a ramen noodle casserole recipe that she's been pushing for the last three days, and finally made that.
Before going to bed, I called our son in OR to catch up. We spoke for about an hour, and I finally got to bed at 1:00am

Today, we'll head out to get our taxes prepared, then Linner somewhere.

Martin, Happy Birthday!
Stu, I hope your FIL is comefortable, at least.

Enjoy the day,
Steve

Good morning! Thank you, Keith, glad to hear you're feeling a little better. Happy Saturday, all, and Happy Birthday, Martin!

We got another good whack of snow last night and we were supposed to be getting more tomorrow, but that seems to have changed, at least for now. The sky is still thickly overcast this morning and it's still very windy, but the sun is supposed to come out and shine for the rest of the day. It's a tad colder today: -9°C/16°F now with that wind making if feel like -19°C/2°F, high of -6°C/21°F with a feels-like of -12°C/10°F later. Most of today will be dedicated to chores and cooking for the week, methinks.

@STooRay: I'll echo what others have said and send good thoughts for your father-in-law's comfort and gentle passing. These times are always hard to get through.

Everybody have a good one, stay safe, go safely and easy-does-it with the birthday cake...or not.

Patty

Thanks Keith!
I told Martin he could sleep in today, and I would make the coffee. So now he has at least 2 choices, unless zeGF also makes it for him.
Speaking of, it's ready and I need to go pour my first of the day. BRB...

There.
Better now.
Thursday as I was leaving work, I approached the GSA and a small brown bird flew away, I think it was what my grandmother called a Jenny wren. She flew by my head so closely that I could feel the air her wings disturbed, on my face and it sounded like a helicopter taking off. I had to wonder where she came from, because I hadn't seen her sitting on the bike.
At the time I thought nothing more of it, got on the bike, and rode home.
Friday morning I was getting ready to leave, and as I stood at the bike putting on my gloves, I saw what appeared to be a dried leaf in the opening of the Hippo Hand on the throttle side.
"That's weird. All the leaves have fallen already! How'd that get in there?"
As I removed it, I saw small twigs, and some dried moss... she was building a nest in there!
I removed all the material I could, but there are still some little remains that will have to come out with a vacuum. The inside of the modern Hippo Hands are lined with a medium pile fleece material, and the nap retains small pieces of dried leaves and short twigs that hang in there like a hair in a biscuit.
It's been a lovely warm week, but it's still too soon to remove the 'Hands. Sunday through Tuesday we'll be seeing overnight low temps of 26, 24 and 25 respectively, and only 39 for a high on Monday... a far cry and less than half the Fahrenheits we saw Thursday afternoon.
It's not summer... not yet.
Feel better Keith, and have a fine birthday Martin.

G'mornin' from SoMD! It's an early rise due to Princess #2 and I am refereeing volleyball this morning. So it was a quick tank-up before heading out. Thank you, Keith!

Sitting waiting for the second match to start so I have a few moments. Nice to see the youngsters learn the game I love and improve throughout the season. And I myself am learning/improving as well as a ref. But I still prefer to play. Hardest thing to see is a wide disparity in skill level between the teams. One dominates while the other just becomes defeated/deflated. Hard for a coach to "fix" that on the fly. But that's also why they play matches. So I gotta just stand up there and remain Switzerland in my black & white shirt. Part of the game.

After this, probably some vehicle maintenance and/or computer work. Pretty open.

Happy birthday, Martin, prayers for your FIL, Stu. And take care y'all!

Thx for coffee Keith!

And thx to y’all for supportive messages.

Mrs Stus’ father passed away noon today.
He had a tough night, and we’re all glad his suffering is over.
Nedless to say, Mrs Stu is all tears, but I’ll support her as best I can.

And yesterday I much to my embarrasement gave the impression that my surgery was yesterday, but it is not until two weeks….but thx anyway for well wishings!

5˚c/41f, sunny, almost calm.
Yesterdays storm forecast was exaggerated…

Have a good one, and do what Keith says!

The idea of "building character" comes to mind, JD.
There will often be times in life to face a challenge, and times when we feel defeated, and the good guys don't always win on the scoreboard.
Teachable moment.
Nonetheless, we owe it to ourselves to do our best, to constantly pursue self improvement, and to take away a lesson from the struggles AND the victories.
"A good pilot is compelled to evaluate what's happened, so he can apply what he's learned."
That's my favorite line from Top Gun.

How many cups before you’re a functional adult?
Be honest.
Are we talking numbers… or gallons?... :coffee:

Some of the coffee variations you can have served here in Vienna:

The line in the Billy Joel song always comes to mind one of the few places I'd like to see some day so many references in literature and so on who knows... anyway
Had a late one reassembling everything on the VStar should have realized why I was having such a difficult time fitting everything back in place I recall being impressed last
time with the fit and position of all the components and this go round positioning the four cables seemed difficult I attributed it to neglecting to take enough photos
Turns out my six year old felt pen marks 1 and 2 on the float bowl shells were correct, but I assumed 1 had to be the forward cylinder
just as I'm setting down the seat what do I see in raised form at the base of the forward cylinder - the number 2 grab a mirror and check my mark it's 1
The kicker is it didn't register that they have to be mixed until I slept on it
At least I'll be able to claim proficiency in the removal and installation of the assembly hey, it's all good jolly fun
[edit] turns out it's only my felt pen marks were incorrect, just when I was having so much fun
wish everyone a good one

Morning Keith & All from sunny (but COLD), Southern Utah!

Currently it is 18F, up from 5F and heading for 41F. A slight breeze now, but later, we'll see the winds out of the WSW @ 7 to 8mph. Hopefully, more of the snow will melt. Yesterday, I cleaned off the driveway the best I could, but there was a big area of ice that did not want to leave. I also cleaned out the gutter in front of the house, so the water could get down the road, instead of pooling up and creating an ice dam. Today, I'll get out there and try to remove the rest of that ice in the driveway.

After getting too tired to play in the snow & ice, I took Chris out to the local Italian restaurant. We've been wanting to go there, ever since we moved here, but every time we drive by it's been way too busy. Yesterday, the parking lot was empty, so we stopped. $80 later...

Chris's sister and her husband will be here later in the day. Then Chris will join them for the week in SoCal, to visit their father. Chris's dad is usually pretty cranky, so their visits are usually an hour here and an hour there.

Stu, sorry to hear about Mrs. Stu's father. It doesn't matter, it is not easy to loose a loved one. Prayers of comfort for her and her family.

We'll get some breakfast once Chris is up. Pepsi(s) will be on the menu, later.

Anyone :bl13:, have a great day on the roads! :hat3:

Good Morning All,
It is morning right?

Gee that was easy, I hate one fingering a phone.

As one that is new to this forum and I am sure is not yet quite settled on who this guy is, especially after some of the rants I’ve publicized, maybe, maybe not- sometimes I’m not sure myself.
I do sense and feel the compassion and support amongst friends, that.. I can only hope the best for all and share the same with respect to boundaries.

I am bad with names, it takes me awhile, but you guys sure like your coffee! I love coffee, I put way too much sugar in it, brown sugar, 2 tblsp., try to limit to 3 a day…. First brain wave awake of course, then mid afternoon and that satisfying one after dinner. I think any more and I would go diabetic. Yes I said table.

I have today goals accomplished that I set last night. I forgot what they where so I am left with a free day, or 2.

I refuse to go quietly into that good night.
My posts may reflect that. Fair warning.

Have a nice weekend everyone!!

Mrs Stus’ father passed away noon today.

@STooRay as I said in advance yesterday (or was it Thursday?) please pass my condolences along to Mrs. Stoo... it's never easy but at least it's over.

As one that is new to this forum

I'm thinking I never actually welcomed you to the group, so let me take care of that right here and now. Welcome to the Coffee Club! We're the virtual expression of that table in a corner of every small town diner where the old guys or old gals gather every day to swap stories about the grandkids, tell lies, and generally enjoy one another's company, realizing that that's one of the best ways to spend one's time.

Happy Saturday, thanks Keith for Coffee, again Happy Birthday Martin! How many years young? Tomorrow me turn 66 , now where is Route 66? My Condolences Stu , love ones Passing is never nice, give Mrs Stu a big hug for all of us.
