ST 1100 to GL1500

Hi guys... I have riding the ST1100 1996 for thee years and around 30 000 km...
It was a good ride and I have enjoyed alot and alot...
However, I have been riding her like military jet plane (a TOP GUN)... 160-180 km/h all the time... And 100-120-150 in the city...
She (my Europe) liked it... Alot...

I had a kind of argument, very lite argument with my friend who has bought same ST like mine... So, I strarted to talk that it is great bike, I'm enjoying it pushing it to the limits so to speak... Great acceleration, even beter holding on the road and masterpiece brakes...
And he reply "no no no... It is not that kine of bike..... It was made for 80 - 100... 120 cursing speed... Maximum 140 km/h..."
I ride it like that and bike and myself enjoying tha kind of ride... He said....
I known that we all are not the same...
And yes, I am an aggressive rider...
But, I have asked him and asking all of those / you who ride ST like that " whay do you think a many Police forces in the world were using ST 1100....? Because it is easy riding bike... For Grandpa and Grandma....
NO NO NO.....
It is superior bike and there is just a fue vehicles who are capable to run from ST 1100.... And second thing is that siting position is actually aggressive... It pushed me to ride a TOP GUN style... And engines it self asking a 4000, 4500 as well as 5500 rpm.... My Europe kindly asked me every time we have approached 80km/h from higher speeds to open side stand....
In my opinion easy riding of ST 1100 is the same as to buy a hidro jet speed boat with two Ferrari engine 2500 kp each and put a oar (peddale) in the water and.......
"yes, I like it that way" buy an airplane and roll it on runway....
I was riding Moto Guzzi Falcone 500 1971. for 10 years and 200 - 250 000 km...
With 25 hp on max. throttle...
It is equivalent to ST on 80-100 km/h..
Have Horses...? Use them...

And I would like to place an advice to every ST 1100 owner....
Change main jets into 115... A have ride 25000+ km no those... The engine have same power if not more power than with 126.. It reach 140-150 in a instance, and goes exactly as it should to 180....
It struggle to reach 200 and 220 even more..
250 is unreachable... But who cares..
Nobody normal nead more tan 180...
And further more, on 150 style it's 5L/100km
On 180 style is 6,5.... Astonishing....
Timing belt tensioner can be rebuild with ease... Put bigger windshield (130€ in UK eBay + 30€ post...)

However, I sold my ST 1100 96. my Europe two weeks ago... (the guy is delighted)
And bought GL 1500 95. a month ago...
To ride 80-100-120.... 140 max..
(ps I have played with main jets again, it flies... An R Armchair... Two R riders (young I assume) couldn't follow me through city streets...) and 6-6,5 L/100 with that Kamikaze style... With 126 jets fro my ST..
I wil try 115 - 110...

So, I wanted to say goodbye to ST Owners, but actually I'm not signing out... If anyone have any question, I'm available...
PS control (if you haven't already) and tighten up shifter lever bolt... On ST it was loosen when I bought it, and GS also and now on GL... Mechanics are some times idiots..
