Had my clutch hose fail on me 20 mi from home last saturday.I have had bike since new 179,000 mi 06 1300 . Going to attempt to repair with universal braided line, just ordered it.oe part shows no longer available, found a different oe part # (22900 mcs a31)says it's for my bike I don't want to pay $200.+ For it and wait long time to get.Thankfull to have road it home without need for tow truck,

Just curious, did your line fail because of handlebar risers, routing, or neglect?
Most, if not all JAP bikes instruct you to replace the hydraulic lines every four years.

Was that a small leak with the clutch working some or a total failure with no lever pressure?

Good luck with the replacement.

The OEM clutch line is a mixture of solid pipe and flexible hose - all in one part. I can see why they do not make it.

@billo got a full set for his pre-2008 model and fitted all of them. The longest line in this photo is the one that they provide for the clutch, which I believe @billo fitted ok. Post #16, 19 July 2023 - Just a long single line with two banjo bolts.

I had less success with the HEL brake lines. Certain lengths I could not get to fit - but mine was an ABS model and also a 2009 - both of which made a difference when it comes to fitting their parts. So mine got sent back - and they altered their website as a result of my feeback. Billo may remember the routing issues with the clutch line if any.

No bar risers ever on bike.failure point was about 12 inch down from master cylinder, where rubber changes to steel tube,no warning before failure.ordered a 60 inch universal braided line off eBay $13.00 I think it will work out good

This is the first time I've read of a clutch hose failure on any of the ST's. Every four years...? Brake lines too? The latter is cost and labor prohibitive.

I never saw any mention of anyone having clutch hose failure looking at this site either - That's why I listed my current issue so other owners can be aware of it. 20 yr old bike now.I have a spare parts bike,3 yr older than mine,2003 ,the hose is Rock hard and not worth attempting to use it

I hate to say it - but I'll bet your clutch slave cylinder (CSC) isn't far behind.

The CSC seems to be one of the only consistent trouble spots on ST1300s, and they seem to die at the 10-15 year mark - so while you are doing the hose replacement, I'd suggest putting a new slave cylinder on it - to prevent another long push home.

I have a 1991 1100. I've taken off the plastic work for major work twice and just because (difficult to inspect ST's with all her clothes on) several times. Brake clutch hoses are still pliable and show no alarming signs. Completely different life span than all the other hoses.

I have seen several damaged/leaking clutch lines over the years on the ST1300’s.
And they were all due to improper routing after installing various types of handlebar risers etc.
Two that come to mind, installed double risers and the clutch and brake lines were as taunt as a guitar string!

Hose is routed properly as factory did it.Several fluid changes through the yrs.replaced rear brake pistons last spring, caliper bores were spotless, bet clutch slave is also spotless,I m doing test to see how long things will last

Line is routed properly as factory did it,had many clutch fluid changes, last spring I replaced rear break pistons and bore was like new looking,I'm betting clutch cylinder is also great looking,I'm doing a endurance test to see how far things will go with good maintenance
