Hello!

I just picked up a 91 ST1100 and would really like to ride it but my clutch won't fully disengage. When I squeeze the clutch, I can see brake fluid seeping fairly briskly from the bottom of the clutch slave cylinder. Releasing the clutch seems to pull a bit of the seepage back inside. It looks like there may be a very small hole in the clutch cover itself but it could also be the gasket. I really can't tell. I've searched a fair bit and haven't found anything similar to my problem. Any recommendations? Thanks!

Sounds like you need to overhaul the slave cylinder. The Honda Service Manual can guide you through that. There is a weep hole there. That's where it is coming from.

Yes, There is a weep hole at the bottom of the slave cylinder cover. Besides the slave cylinder " lip " seal, you will need the cover gasket, and two other seals. You may be surprised how nasty you find the slave cylinder is after you dissasemble it.

Check the fuel gauge connector on the left side of the fuel tank. It's kinda hidden. Maybe it wasn't re-connected if the PO had the fuel tank off ......

So I removed the old fluid and thoroughly cleaned out the master cylinder. Then I removed the slave cylinder. It wasn't particularly disgusting so I proceeded to dismantle it. Still pretty clean. Cleaned it anyway. Nothing obviously wrong with the seals. Reassembled the slave cylinder and reattached it. Bled the system at both ends. Clutch now functions normally and no leaks.

I have seals, spring, piston etc on order and I'll rebuild it when I get them but it seems to function properly for now.
