Hi all i am doing jobs prior to MOT in Uk its. The last mot had an advisory stating the rear shock absorber upper bush haa slight play

I have had a look and cant really see what they mean

Does anyone know how i can check if the bush is ok or not

I did not own the bike at last mot so do not know if prevous owner has done anything.

With the bike on the center stand pry up on the rear wheel and feel for play. Or remove the right pannier and body panel so you can see the top shock mount. Again pry up on the rear wheel and watch for play.

Pressed mine out turned it 90 degrees, pressed it back in, not the best solution but got rid of most of the play.

Thanks for that cheers

Centre stand, block the back wheel and remove the shock. It's easier to measure any slack that way Then assemble after giving the 'eyes' a bit of grease to stop them squeaking.....!

If you need a new bushing the P/N for a North American model year 2000 ST1100A is Honda P/N 52453-MT3-611.
I don't know if it is the same P/N for all years, you'll have to check that yourself. Some places list it as still available but whether or not you will get it is another story. There are some new old stock listed on Ebay US.

It is a Showa shock absorber. You can always contact them and ask them to cross-reference the P/N. I am sure that the same bushing was used on multiple shocks.
