Has anyone gone for the Staintunes exhausts? What do you think? I know they are very expensive. I wonder if they harm the bike at all -- greater free flow might mess up the computer? Create flat spots on acceleration? Create backfire on decelleration (or allow the rider to hear the backfire that may already be there but is muffled away by the stock exhausts)? I'm not very serious about ordering them but I am curious...

Got em and lovin them.

Two biggest benefits have been weight savings and sweet sound.

They did not affect the power curve nor flat spot, no noticable change in decel backfire, no noticable change in HP.

They cool down faster than the stock system, quality workmanship and have removable baffles, I leave mine in.

Downside: COST !!! I found mine used and got a really good price on them else I would not have a set!

If ya got the bucks go for it, if not look for a used set.

I've been thinking about a set of those pipes but if there's no HP gain then there is much benefit for me to bust the cash to do it.

Thanks for posting this. It's a big help for us who don't have a lot of exposure to people with these pipes.

The ST sounds like a motorcycle rather than a sewing machine with the Staintunes. 13 pounds vs. 26 pounds. 2-3 HP gain. Can you feel it or really notice it? I couldn't. The Staintunes also look a lot nicer than stock. They sound the same as stock going down the slab. When you crank the throttle open is when you really hear the difference.
