Thinking one cup of coffee will fix everything is a toxic trait...
It won’t. That’s why I have four... :coffee:

G'Day...

3°/15°C, milky gray, hazed skies, which the sun is trying to battle through, dipping everything in a hard light...

already had my 2 mugs (4 capsules) Nespresso... ☕
Freshly home made bread, soft boiled hen-fruit, etc... 🍞🧈🥚🧂🍓

Aaaand... I was already busy outside...
mowing that lawn! :mow1:
No kidding, partially strong growth despite the still cool night temps, now all trimmed and smooth again...
ze GF outside, snipping on flowers and bushes, like trimming the lavender...
The lilac behind the house however doesn't appear having survived the winter...
The thing is ancient, and for quite some time ze GF is already mulling over a bicycle shed/garage there anyway...
(pfffff... great... another project... can't catch a break... 😖)
Talked her out of pouring a(nother) concrete foundation, gonna use those big ground screws as there isn't much weight to be expected...
Still a lot of digging and leveling involved... ⚒️
And tiny screws and nuts, those Biohort metal shelters come with a gazillion of them... 🔩

Enjoy the Sunday! 😎
(me, already grim about going back to work tomorrow... 😒)

Thx Martin!

4˚c/39f, 35mph wind from south, overcast.

Been for a long and coldish walk.

We have a wedding anniversary today…
2026-1986=40 !!!

Bought the missus a nice present.
I got a book on walking, by Frederic Gros.

No party, some sushi take out later.

Have a good and romantic one!
Stu

Good morning everyone

Thanks for the start, Martin. That's an interesting substitute system for a foundation.

It's 48°F, still, and clear in Rockville. Mostly sunny with a high of 84 will encourage the local cherry trees to blossom soon, though they may retreat again in the early parts of next week when the highs are only in the 50s.

I'm off to the ball park today to watch a pre-season game between the Orioles and the Nationals. Neither team had a good season last year; I have little expectation of seeing the Nats do anything much better this year.

Stay safe and well everyone and tell your dear ones you love them. Do it today, NOW, for tomorrow may be too late.

Good morning all, looks like there's been a bit of rain overnight and calling for some light rain going into mid day or there about perfect ST weather 6C now can't complain... Well I'm sure something will surface
Will get a couple things fired up after what might have been a too long lay up what was the song from Phantom of the Opera soundtrack "Carburators man! That's what life is all about..."
Biggest problem today, no brake lights on the ST, the most baffling situation I've yet to encounter with the bike so far; when I apply either brake - nothing. I'll do an in depth study of the forum, an AI search and
see if I can't get to the bottom of this somehow perplexing dilema... or maybe I'll switch the plate over and cut the grass :run1:
If you're happy, stay happy

Kong-Rats @STooRay on the endurance... ;)
Hope they'd actually shipped the correct issue/title 'The Philosophy Of Walking',
and not his other essay 'A Philosophy of War: Why We Fight' by mistake... 😁

Aaand... we're on the run, invitations to "linner" or "dunch" at a friend's place downtown... food and conversations... :food1:

Morning all, and thanks Martin, for getting us started.

@STooRay 40's a decent number. Congrats. Referred to as the ruby jubilee.

The numbers here are -4 currently and 0 later. Cloudy will be the descriptor. I have my aunts visitation this evening, and the snow is supposed to start then and continue tomorrow all through the funeral. Snowy funerals, like rainy ones, are no fun (not that funerals are supposed to be fun) but I still go back that old adage of "if it rains during the funeral, the deceased died happy."

Hope everyone has a great day.

Obo.

I'm no expert but after the bike's been stored for a long winter layover my brain immediately screamed "MICE! Check all wiring! Check all ground connections!"

Good morning, and thanks for the coffee start, Martin.

It's cloudy and 37, rising to 48 with a chance of rain. It looks like the weather is changing at a slower rate than predicted. Yesterday's cloudy and late rain became a nice sunny one, and now that forecast has pushed to today.

I managed to get out with the neighbor's dog, while Brenda was watching our Red Sox lose to Atlanta, yesterday.
We dined at our favorite local BBQ place, before settling in for the night.

Today, I'll go to the first of the season's track events in Thompson, Ct. They cancelled yesterday's event, due to the snow in the forecast, but haven't done that for today.
I managed to find my corner marshal gear, and I'll dress warmly for today's event.
The event coordinator sent out next month's schedule, yesterday, and I replied with my availability. Only half the month for me.

Enjoy the day,
Steve

I almost missed that!
Congratulations!

Good morning, all. Thanks, Martin.

Sigh. Snow. Neige. Nieve. Neve. снег. Sneachta. Schnee. You get the idea. It's been coming down all night and it's still coming down. Should taper off to light snow/flurries by around 1 p.m. and stop all together later this afternoon. -3°C/27°F now (feels like -10°C/14°F), high of 0°C/32°F with a windchill of -5°C/23°F. C'mon, Mother Nature, the Equinox is past, it's enough with the white stuff already! And just because I said that, she'll send us another snowstorm, I just know it. Sigh.

@STooRay: Happy Anniversary to you and Mrs. Stu!

Everybody have a good one, stay safe and go safely.

Patty

Good Morning, thanks Martin for coffee, Congratulations Stu, you made the 22 of March a more pleasant day for me. Yeah thought it was Monday for some reason, Me need more Coffee!!!!!!! So most check Odo on Lady as I do believe I have scuffed up the new tires enough yesterday to do the Sea to Sky highway to Squamish safely . Partly Cloudy 4 C high of 9 C okay weather but not as nice as Yesterday, which I spent riding. Have fun Y'all G

Congrats for 40 years of not killing each other, Stu. One, or both of you, have demonstrated some degree of patience and forbearance over time.
I don't intend to sound morose, but I'm reminded of a famous quote (by Ruth Graham maybe...?), "We've never considered divorce. Maybe murder, but not divorce."
Anyway, it's a big deal, so good on y'all.
It's about 65 outside, with no snow expected today, bright clear skies, and a high of 80-something. Close enough.
Roz' Civic failed to start twice yesterday, the first time when we had to leave for the great-nephew's 2 year birthday party. She would have none of that, was freaking out, so I didn't "have time" to even put a multimeter on it. So I jumped it off using the battery from my motorbike, and an international disaster was thus narrowly avoided.
Of course, we had to have my brother in law use his car as a donor AED when it came time to leave. On the way home, we stopped at Pep Boys (not many such places open late on Saturday), where we paid waaayyy-yyy too much for a new battery.
The old one was reading 10.89 volts at Pep Boys, though we had no warning signs at all, prior to its final demise.
Other than that, it seems no store in town will admit to having a head unit in stock for my string trimmer, which is letting all the line out to immediately wrap around the head and stop any weed whacking. So I only got the worst of the weeds whacked.
So the next major life event on our schedule is a baby christening for the youngest great-nephew today, who I guess is 7 months old now.
Somehow, I just don't feel that this uncle's presence is required - really - for this occasion.
Part of it may be because I've been to this church before, and I didn't really feel the spirit in that place. But they have lots of nice white robes, and processions, and a large choir, and gold-looking plates, and crosses, and big candle holders, and ornate furnishings... and the priest / bishop / head guy leads a lot of responsive readings for a long time, and he relates a personal story for a few minutes (with not much reference to scripture at all), and I think he reads in Latin.
And then there's a sermon... for about 10 minutes.
Now don't get me wrong, I like to go to church, when there's a life lesson or actual study involved... but this is more like a big ceremony for showing off, and I don't seem to relate.
And here once again, the whole st-owners coffee club-reading audience has a front-row seat to how easily my ADHD brain can be diverted down some twisted, rocky goat trail, and we all end up in the ditch.
Well, I hope at least the ride had a moment or two of fun before I crashed us, and I truly hope no one was hurt.
Now it's time for me to refill my coffee mug, and shortly I imagine I'll forget I wrote any of this.
But before I leave, I must let you know -- I have officially declared the End of Winter, at least until much later this year.

Good morning all!
Thanks for today’s start, Martin!

Happy Anniversary to Stu and Mrs. Stu, that’s a record I can’t even touch!

I’m at the North/South Carolina line on Interstate 77 right now.
I'm in a Cracker Barrel having breakfast at the moment!
I had a wonderful visit with the folks near Hilton Head yesterday!
We toured Savannah on foot! (15,000 steps, their count) It is a beautiful city!
Enjoy your day!

Morning Martin & All, from mostly sunny, Southern Utah!

The warm temperatures are continuing. Currently it is 63F, up from 44F and heading for 78F. And then 80Fs+ through Thursday. A slight breeze now, but later the winds will be out of the NNW @ 10 to 13mph.

Congrats to Stu on his 40th anniversary! :hat3:

My son stopped by on his way home to Montana. I guess they all had a good time out in the desert. He's got a long drive :mytruck:, so he took off before we were up.

Boiled eggs, bacon, toast & OJ to start the morning. Pepsi(s) for later.

Anyone :bl13:, have a great day on the roads! :hat3:

Good afternoon all, thanks for the cup Martin, the nice thing about Nespresso... every cup is fresh. No sittin on the hot plate hours on end.

Congrats Mr & Mrs Stu! 40 years of marinating together, you ought to be nice and tender by now 😉

So I got out yesterday and got 100 miles on the bike. Not huge, but a step on the way. Temps in the 50s and 60s this week, so more opportunities await.

Church this morning, then saw my wife off for a few days to the kids in Spokane (4hrs away). Me an the dog will do our best to get by.

Have a pleasant day ST fam...
