Good morning, your coffee is here!
Brand name is Coop, type red, supposed to be a workhorse of a coffee….it will get you going, or staying.
What do I know…little.

There’s brown bread with pickled herring, or cheese, or caviar ( made from smoked cods roe).
OJ, and Pepsi as well.

A strange day, since I’m well again, but Mrs Stu is down….sick as a dog as they say.
Our cat Snoop has curled on top of her belly. Is that an omen?

Yesterdays snowclearance went well, and has to be repeated again today.

Just above freezing, sleet, 10 mph wind increasing to 45 mph later, and that’s a pffffft! for shure.

Have a fine Sunday, and remember to wash your hands!
Stu

G'Day...

-4°/2°C, overcast and... snow is back... ❄️
Yeah, just a thin powder layer on some cold surfaces, but still... 🌨️

just a quick brekkie with double ☕☕ some slices of home made 🍞 topped with 🧈 and 🍓...

ze GF's family is having a big, "eat till you drop" style gathering at an Asian restaurant today...
positive there will be significant amounts of 🍤, 🐟, 🍚, with soy sauce and wasabi ...
serious heartburn seems unavoidable... ;)

GF already admonishes to hurry...

have a great Sunday

Good morning, and thanks for the coffee start, Stu. I guess whatever Peter got is making the rounds of your household. :(

It's sunny and 10f/-12c, becoming mostly sunny as the temperature rises to 35f/2c

Yesterday, I took the neighbor's dog for a walk in the outback for awhile. There's still plenty of snow, but it was pretty packed and uneaven.
Brenda suggested our local BBQ place for Linner, so we did that. We both questioned the size of her half-rack of ribs, and ended up with leftovers. I usually over order, but they have a tasty Cuban sandwich that I enjoyed.

As to today's activities, we'll have to figure it out, 'cause I've got no idea of what's on tap.
When I picked up the dog, our neighbor was saying that they'll be having a birthday cake for the 3-year old, so maybe...

Enjoy the day,
Steve

Morning all, and thanks Stu for the smorgasbord.

Sunny here but -7/-14 headed to -2/-7.

No plans other than stuff house stuff once everyone gets up. The younger ones over indulged last night and paid the price throughout the night. I didn't over indulge and still was awakened by their payments. :rofl1: Moderation, clearly should have been the key.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Obo.

G'morning, all, and thanks Stu. Love the pic - spectacular!

We have a lovely, sunny day on tap, but a tad colder: currently -13°C/9°F with a feels-like of -19°C/-2°F and a high of -7°C/19°F with a windchill of -13°C/9°F later. I guess we'd better enjoy the sunshine now, because there's some nasty stuff coming. The temps will shoot up to above freezing tomorrow, and it looks like that will bring precipitation in the form of ice pellets for Monday night and most of Tuesday, with snow then falling on top of that. Perfect recipe for a slippery, dangerous mess. Sigh. Ok, you can go away now, winter, we've had our fill for this year.

Welp, got chores to do so I'd best get to 'em. Everybody have a good one, stay safe and go safely.

Patty

G'mornin'from SoMD! The Prince Of Purrrsia tried to get the day started early at 0555 with some breakfast, but I nixed that and threw him out of the room. Then Princess #2 needed a bladder draining at 0715, and not wanting to find the puddle in the dark later I obliged her. Then the feedings finally began as coffee was ingested for everyone's safety. Thank you, Stu! Sorry to hear about the missus🤕.

We're at 37F/3C with rain expected to come in the afternoon. I expect to stay inside. Probably do much needed chores, though I should climb into the attic and see why my thermostat says the outside temp is 78F (my 2nd floor heat pump is up there). Some more work on the mirror model. I should do some work in the garage, but not feeling it today. Maybe tomorrow since it's a holiday...

Take care y'all!

Good Morning, Mind hamsters again, 5 am gave up sleeping, so opened Gate, had a Shave and Shower, and made Coffee and breakfast. Freezing and dark outside with clear Skies, could see the Big Dipper. Temperature 0 C/ 31 F high 6 C/ 43 F. Clouds rolling in this afternoon bringing rain for Monday. Sun rise at 7:19 . Might go for a ride after lunch, no other plans for today. Thanks Stu and good to hear your over the Flu, washing hands once a year whether they need it or not, isn't enough. Cheers G

Thanks for the start, Stu. I'm not ready to wrap my mind around fish for breakfast, although I don't doubt it's good.

I'll try to be careful with this post, as I'm still on my first Black Rifle of the day. Rainy, cloudy, dreary, the opposite of yesterday. But the prior day's dryness and warmth encouraged me to replace the trailer lock on Kaiser's Bushtec carriage, so that mission is accomplished to my satisfaction, and as they say, "in the books." Which book? I dunno.

I took pictures at every step, and will share them with the current owner of the former Bushtec Trailer Company. It was so sad to see them cease manufacturing a year or two ago, another harbinger of the motorcycle industry as a whole, I might think. But a former employee now runs it under a different name, and does repairs, wheels, tires, and maintenance. Somehow he's still in business. I would be interested, out of curiosity, as to how many Bushtec trailers were sold during the life of the company. Definitely the Cadillac of motorcycle trailers.

There are some interesting non-moto threads over on ADVrider, and I do spend time there learning more about whichever ADV bike I have, and other things moto-related. Came across a thread started in January this year, with 3 pages of posts now... the title is What Saved Your Life Today. Some fascinating perspectives on life, living, health and fitness, diseases and afflictions, music, love, but more besides.

I'll share with y'all one post that stood out to me as I read it, because it fits our daily coffee meetups. And I can relate, except for the part about hoping not to die, because I'm not afraid of death. Not like I'm in a big hurry to go, but I digress.

Here it is... I found it resonates:
"OMG… I go to bed looking forward to not dying in my sleep so I can get a couple cups of coffee in the morning and confirm the internet still functions, etc. in quiet, alone time. It is the little things."

I'm not morbid; we all know - and some quite recently - about the temporary nature of our existence here.

So live the best you can, and if you like it, then live as long as you can.

Good morning everyone

Thanks for the coffee, Stu. Sorry to hear the missus now has the bug, but at least a cat cozied up to her may be a comfort.

Let’s see if I can close my eyes and sleep!

The younger ones over indulged last night and paid the price throughout the night.

Mind hamsters again, 5 am gave up sleeping,

Those three experiences summarize quite well my nocturnal experience last night. Too much prime rib, mashed potatoes, key lime pie, and wine for dinner, followed too soon by a glass of champagne at the neighbors' place, meant I was over-full, uncomfortable, and unready for prolonged sleep. The alcohol had the predictable effect of interrupting my sleep in the wee hours of the night and revving up the mind hamster. The result was that I awoke around 0230 and was up until 0530 or so, but went back to bed and slept pretty soundly from then until 0930. A very slow-out-of-the-gate and uncharacteristic start to my day.

It's 43°F with a medium-altitude overcast in Rockville. Light rain and a high of 44 seems to be the outlook. We can use the rain- not so much for the moisture, although that'll be welcome, but for the effect it has on the remaining snowpack. It's now been on the ground for three weeks and is still several inches deep, even where snow removal didn't stack it into mounds that are now hard-frozen and granitic. The warmer temperatures of the past couple days have caused the depth to diminish noticeably but haven't done it in altogether; a good rain will go a long way toward accomplishing that.

I've got a ukulele jam to attend this afternoon, something I hadn't anticipated until the email from the organizer arrived with today's musical selections attached.

So live the best you can, and if you like it, then live as long as you can.

Great motto- thanks for sharing.

Stay safe and well everyone and tell your dear ones you love them. Do it today, NOW, for tomorrow may be too late.

Thanks for the coffee!
The power went out here about 2 hrs now. Sitting here starting to think about genset refrig saving.

I think talking this thru may help me decide my next bike as I have a deal on the table but getting last minute cold feet because a different bike showed up.
At the moment it’s a 22 KLR650. I am familiar with the bike from countless hrs of YouTube,
Have seated them but never rode one but pleased with the choice (wow, the power just came back at this moment.. a sign?🤣).

The other girl is a 24 Honda TransAlp 750.
It showed up last night. I am not going to pose this thought on either KLR or Trasalp forums, but here maybe honest and real opinions abound!

I consider myself very lucky, did I say retired?
Just had my 68th and I still can ride. Albeit I still think I can ride like I am 30, but I know firsthand that my physical game is not the same. That can be a challenge. I love my St and we do go the distance, however I want a around the town ride, less weight, less power, less stress around town which should also be fun when it’s not just for commute.

To that end I landed on the ADV plane and was sold on the next platform. Fast forward 6 months of sometimes too intense ocd research in that world and i settled on the KLR, first by cost/specs, obviously but its cult following is a big driver. You can learn more about anything by its forums.

So, KLR650 Adventure or TransAlp750? The Honda is $2k more at $7500 NEW. The KLR is a 22 with 1.3k miles at $5k

Both bikes have there own best pros and cons, and makes them both different enuf to cause guys like me, conniptions

I know I am not going to get into any serious off-road, not that stupid, 1 wrong fall and no longer can ride, no thanks. Dirt roads alone I am happy as my backyard, a power line road, a friends farm. You know, a bike that can do offroad, at your pace and handles around town like a breeze.

My bother with the Honda is, well I love them and it’s suited to what my 30 yr old thinks it wants. The KLR makes more sense logically and financially. Funny how heart can trump pure logic, isn’t it?

Meanwhile, still having fun fitting out the ST.
Changed engine and drive oil, 4 iridium plugs, wrapped the pipes, all LED swap, new seat, added radar and CarPlay, flushed clutch, 6 new ceramic pads, added pannier crash bars, flushed coolant, fitted hwy pegs(my style), added 2nd horn, preload adjuster definitely needed service(can’t wait to see if that improves stability), dumped the velocity stacks, changed air filter, disabled the pair system and now just waiting for the Delvekics and she can be buttoned up and ready to go!

Wow good coffee! Thanks!

Meh.
If you ride at all, you're / we're just rolling the dice. I'm an avid but mediocre adventure rider, and another way to look at dirt riding is, it's generally at much, much less speed.
Just don't venture out on remote trails alone, if for no other reason than you won't have to pick up your bike by yourself.
So it's less about being "stupid", and more about improving your riding skills - which will serve you well on the streets as well.
Yes.
I am biased.

I know your rightI felt that contradiction when I said it.

Morning Stu & all from a cloudy Southern Utah!

Currently it is 50F, up from 33F and heading for 53F. The winds are already blowing from the SSW @ 15 to 18 mph. Depend on which Weather Guesser you are looking at, we could get rain/snow Monday through Friday. We'll believe it when it's on the ground! :well1:

Stu, sorry your wife isn't feeling well. And, BTW, thanks for the Pepsi! :wine2:

I never made it out to the garage to clean up, but by afternoon, I decided to take the :bl13: out around the neighborhood. It was a bit chilly, so I only got in 10 miles.

Today is our late church, so besides that, not much else will be happening.

Boiled eggs, bacon, toast & OJ to start the morning. Pepsi(s) for later.

Anyone :bk13:, have a great day on the roads! :hat3:
