G'Day...

-3°/+1°C, gray, overcast, freeze-thaw-freeze routine, just as dull as the past few days...

Nespresso maker under power and pressurized... capsules in the dispenser aside... :coffee:

soft boiled butt nuggets (aka hen fruit), self baked sunflower seed bread, Austrian barrel butter (from happy cows milk),
brie, Emmentaler, various jams... apple juice from genuine Styria grown fruits...

yesterday went over way to fast, without barely noticing...
hopped out of bed, drove to a befriended couple (GF's side) for an opulent 10 o'clock brunch, which lasted like 5 hours...

after that ze GF bravely endured a 2 hours 'hike' through a METRO marked (like a small version of COSTCO...)...
still bought more then actually intended (a specific brand of frozen potato veggies that actually taste like potatoes!),
drove home, put all in storage and cooling, after which we realized that the day is gone... it kinda got away from us...

So we plummeted into the bed, some TV, lights out...

have a good one! 😎

Good morning everyone

Thanks for the coffee, Martin.

Which I do while wearing my favorite winter garment: a heated building.

It's 32°F and wet in Rockville. where we expect to get a rain / sn*w mix between now (~0545) and 0800, after which it'll just be soggy, gray, damp, and icky while reaching a high of a whopping 34 before dropping into the low 20s overnight tonight. Such is winter weather. Blech. Why oh why haven't I booked myself a tropical getaway?

Friday's idleness persisted through yesterday, with the result that I do feel as though I've outmaneuvered whatever incipient ill-health I may have been feeling on Thursday. Cricket was watched (women's India Premiere League T20 and South Africa men's T20 league) as well as documentaries about the Crimean War and Boer War.

Brie the cat has invented a new form of amusement: chase-the-kibble. The game goes like this: I toss a single pellet of dry kitten food so that it skitters across the kitchen floor; she runs it down (often batting at it like a soccer or hockey player advancing down the ice / field) and eats it, then comes back and meows that she'd like another, please. This goes on for as many as 30 or 40 repetitions before she flops down and indicates she's had enough fun for a few minutes.

Yesterday saw a return to the drawing table, where I sketched out a conceptual design for a rolling storage cabinet to contain my scroll saw, two disc / belt sanders, router, and router table. These items have accumulated over time and currently clutter up valuable floor space, making it difficult and awkward and inconvenient to move around at the end of the shop where they've come to rest. Getting them off the floor and into a mobile storage unit should greatly ease, perhaps even eliminate that problem although of course the cart itself will take up space. But being on wheels it'll be easier to move around.

Stay safe and well everyone and tell your dear ones you love them. Do it today, NOW, for tomorrow may be too late.

Thanks Martin! I tend to agree about getting coffee being the best winter sport.

It is about 18F here under cloudy skies this morning and may hit 30F later in the day. Snow flurries/light snow are/is supposed to start early evening and continue to breakfast tomorrow, depositing up to another 3 inches.

Yesterday was mostly quiet here as I did a bunch of little chores such as installing my very first "smart" light bulbs while watching light snow fall all day. By dinner time there was a solid 3 inches so of course I ventured out to visit a good friend who was vacationing in a nearby town. I was glad to have 4 wheel drive and 180-ish pounds of sand in the back of my truck! What is normally just under a half hour drive took very close to an hour! The return trip at midnight was much nicer as the snow had stopped and the plows had most of the roads cleared.

Today, after proper coffee saturation and some breakfast, I'll fire up Mr tractor and scoop away all the snow in the driveway. Then perhaps some more little tasks before heading to my son's house to watch the Patriots play (American) football.

Be safe, be careful, and when shoveling lift with your legs!

Scott

Good morning, and thanks for the coffee start, Martin.

It's cloudy and 25 in MA this morning, rising to 33, later. We may get a bit more snow at some point.

Yesterday was another slow day, with both of us just laying around.
We got some snow as we were driving to Worcester to be fitted for new ski boots. Worcester is notorious for their lack of plowing, so I put the truck into 4WD once we were off the interstate.
I did purchase new boots, and left my skis so they could be fitted and adjusted.
While we were there, we met a couple who we're skiing in France with. It was a pleasant surprise, although we couldn't talk for long.
On the way back home, we stopped by our new favorite Chinese restaurant for dinner, It was pleasantly un-busy. I think the snow may have kept people inside.

Today, we'll mostly remain indoors, watching the Patriots/Texans wildcard football game.
Also on the list is to pick up my skis and boots.
Brenda is planning on cooking today, and the roast beef is our dinner.

Enjoy the day,
Steve

Thx for coffee and buttfruit Martin!

Another day of 5˚c/41f, overcast and calm.

Been for a walk, fried some fish, that’s it for today.

Mrs Stu spends alot of time with her dad at the nursing home, battling docs to give him yet another antibiotics cure…

I might take the bicycle to go and sit with her, I’ve had my dose of walking for today.

Have a nice and quiet one!
Stu

Thanks for the hot start Martin.
I intentionally and successfully took yesterday off and didn't do a darn thing. Well, I helped Roz stow some of the last boxes of Christmas decorations back in the attic till next year. Still too many. Way too many. But that was it for chores.
On another note, as I've been playing hooky from the coffee conversations this week, I have discovered my personal limitations for riding in the cold without heated gear.
And that is calculated to be 28 degrees F. It's doable for the 10-12 mile (depending on route) commute to work, but for any lower temp, or any longer distance, Warm and Safe gloves and jacket liner will be required.
But as we all know, ya gotta push it to the edge, in order to find out where that edge is. Mission accomplished.
Then again, this personal limitation applies to the BMW GS Adventure, with heated grips (on 4 or 5) and heated seat (similar heat setting), AND with Hippo Hands, which work well on the GSA but not so well on the ST1300. So yeah, it's "kind of" cheating, but at 28 degrees on the ST, the heated gloves and jacket would irrefutably be required.
I make no bones about it, I'm thin-blooded, don't do well in the cold, and I'm perfectly happy living in the (relatively) warmer Deep South, where snow is an anomaly.
And with that I say... Bring On Summer!
As for Keith, my mind keeps going back to a clever storage rack I've seen that looks like a tall shelf to store sanders, routers, small saws, etc., but it lays down with a solid table top to enable the use of any of those tools. It is a DIY project that appears simple to build. And it has legs that drop down at either end to convert from a rack to a table.
Here is a link to the plans (I've also seen the plans online for free):

Morning Martin & All from mostly sunny, Southern Utah!

Currently it is 37F, up from 18F and heading for 55F. No breeze yet, but later the winds will be out of the WNW @ 6 to 7mph.

I puttered around in the garage for a bit, and then helped Chris load up the Highlander, for her Quilt Retreat, that she'll be leaving for in a while. Then it will be off to church for me. The rest of the day will be me sitting on my computer, reading up on what's happening in the world!

Boiled eggs, bacon, toast & OJ for the morning start. Pepsi(s) later.

Anyone :bl13:, have a great day on the roads! :hat3:
