testing rear brake switch continuity

Howdy,

We have a 2003 ST1300 and we're in the process of trying to figure our why the rear brake light remains on. In doing so, we're looking to test the continuity of the rear brake light switch. We've liberated the part of the switch from the brake pedal (cleaning and lubricating it) and removed the middle cowl to access to white male end of the switch. We're stuck at trying to locate and release the white male part from wherever it is plugged in. We are hesitant to start fussing with the wire bundle given that, well, it's all delicate and about 23 years old. I attach, two photos to help:

--the picture from the ST1300 shop manual (wonderful manual, but it is often short on words and steps, and merely shows the white male part removed and being tested); and

--the same angled shot of where-ish the male part plugs in to our bike.

Would any one know where it plugs in? For the life of me, I cannot see the white male part. Any guidance on where and how to proceed and in the least damaging manner?

Although we also raised the fuel tank,too, the area around this bundle is incredible tight. I have not released any of the electrical tape holding it all altogether. Please advise if you think additional prep would be helpful.
