but my coffee tastes sooo delightful... :coffee:

G'Day...

and we've another episode of overcast, foggy, damp, ghastly, so just 'British' weather @ 1°/3°C with 99% RH over here... 🌫️
(... and if I've to listen to that dreaded 'Last Christmas' just one more time, I'm going to be sick... 🤢)

and least home and office caffeine are reliable of continuous quality... ☕

GF had her CT yesterday, that plated radius looks like an old, tacked together farm fence... screws poking out the inside of the bone, etc...
We'll see what the orthopedist has to say about that...
She has an easy start today, a bit home office, then some physio, heading on to her workplace after that...

Me, rushed through the fog to the office, trusty Toyota dripping off muck... gonna run it through the wash tomorrow...

gotta run, clients urging with stupid questions...

tomorrow is Friday...

Thx Martin, life is tough sometimes, but it’s even tougher for someone stupid.

Really glad ZGF is up and about again, might be a miracle…

10˚c/50f (another miracle), rain, grey, barely any daylight, 20mph wind from southwest, gale warning for later…

A bicycle trip in foul weather gear to shop something for dinner.
Then some vacuuming.
A Friday task really, but tomorrow is all about the funeral of Mrs Stus late uncle, they’ve kept him on ice for almost two weeks because of all deaths around here lately…..

Nono, I’m feeling fine, thankyou for asking!

Have a good one!
Stu

Morning all, and thanks for the startup Martin.

-4 here in the dark, headed to +3 and sunny. Bit of a mild snap it seems. We even had a bit of rain last night, which cleared up the roads and walkways decently. There's still ice around in spots, but at least it's not hidden under a layer of white.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Obo.

Good morning everyone

Thanks for the coffee, Martin. Remind the orthopedist that "Nothing screams poor workmanship, like wrinkles in your duct tape."

It's 30°F and clear (personally verified by me, when I took the bins to the curb so that the City crews will collect the contents) in Rockville, and absolutely quiet and calm. "O Little Town of Ro-o-ock-ville, how still we see thee lie. Beneath thy deep and dreamless sleep, the sat-e-llites go by" and all that. My sky map app told me of two human-made satellites passing overhead but I couldn't see them. There's a lot of light in this area, making even the Big Dipper almost too faint to make out. Some of these nights I may go pitch a tent in a quiet field out in the country and take in the universe's light show.

I had anything but dreamless sleep last night- woke three times, each time terminating a dream of some sort or another. I finally gave up and got up around 0350, the result of which is that 30 scratch-made cheese muffins are now out of the oven and cooling on the countertop. I'll have to monitor to make sure Brie doesn't decide to help herself, because (a) that's unacceptable, forbidden behavior, and (b) they're intended to be given as gifts to the music store staff who so graciously accommodate the ukulele group each Thursday afternoon.

Yesterday saw me make a trip to Lowe's to get the materials for my dressing bench. All in they came to around $300, with one more panel of 2x4x3/4" oak faced plywood to source- they had only one on hand and I need two. Build-it-yourself furniture is not cost-effective, but it'll probably work out to less than $10/hour in entertainment value, maybe even $5/hour especially if you factor in the time spent at the drawing table making the plan, which seems a bargain.

Stay safe and well everyone and tell your dear ones you love them. Do it today, NOW, for tomorrow may be too late.

yes... but...

those relatable moments of solitude in your garage, escaping the world to tinker, enjoying quiet time with tools and tunes,
the smell of oil/dust, time to decompress, surrounded by familiar objects and the hum of the fridge, a personal sanctuary away from everyday life...

PRICELESS...

@ibike2havefun mmmmm dressing.

Funny how some call it dressing and some call it stuffing. Perhaps it depends on if it's been inside the cooked meat.

Mmmmmmmm, stuffing. My favorite.

BTW, I like the "dressing bench" image you supplied a couple of days ago, too.

Good morning all!
Thanks for today’s offerings Martin.
Miss Judy are on the road to more appointments, these will not give us more on-site to the goings on! However, results from these appointments may provide insight to her issues.
Also it provides a quiet time for me the ponder life in general while I wait…
Enjoy your day, it’s coming soon…

Good morning, and thanks for the coffee, Martin.

It's sunny and 22 in MA this morning, rising to 48, later.
They're predicting rain and wind for tomorrow, so it'll cloud up at some point.

Yesterday, I got up to the ski area for a few runs. The knees were telling me that they were there, but overall, things went well. Everyone is skiing on the lower trails. The ski area has been upgrading their lift to the upper trails from 4 to 6 person chairs. The project started after they closed, last season, and is still ongoing, so right now, there's no upper trail access. Online, they say that they'll be open for Christmas week, but I heard that the date's been pushed to January.
It looks like their Christmas break might be chaos, but I won't be there.

After skiing, I napped, and then took the neighbor's pup out for a walk, before dinner at our local Mexican place.

Today, I'll try for a gym visit, but I've really got to touch base with my urologist, regarding insurance approval for tomorrow's MRI. I might have screwed myself by trying to use the VA's Community Care, and then asking for Aetna when CC approval didn't come through in time. It'll get straightened out, but the MRI and maybe the biopsy might be rescheduled in the meantime.

Enjoy the day,
Steve

But the quality is most likely better than any thing bought at the store and the piece will last thru many generations. :)

Thanks for that vote of confidence.

It should last, although I have no idea what may become of it after I'm gone. It'll probably be bundled off with the rest of the bedroom furnishings, to the highest bidder / estate sale offeror, with them none the wiser that it's the odd man out in the suite.

As for "better than bought at the store"... nobody who looks closely will ever mistake anything I've made for commercially-produced goods.

Morning Martin & All from mostly sunny skies in Southern Utah!

Currently it is 38F, up from 27F and heading for 58F. There is no breeze yet, later the winds will be out of the SW @ 7 to 8mph. Yesterday we saw the winds up to 17mph. Up north, they saw some up to 98mph.

My plans got pre-empted by one in higher rank than me. I found myself playing Santa Bob. So I did not get out on the bike like I wanted, so I had to settle for riding around the neighborhood and put on 13 miles. I hope I might be able to go out today. We'll see.

Chris is still asleep, so we'll have something in a bit. Pepsi(s) for later.

Anyone :bl13:, have a great day on the roads! :hat3:

Good Morning, Thanks Martin for coffee. Today's agenda, Batten down the Hatches, Windy 36+ mph, wet 43 F , high 48 F, humidity 88%. Do need to go to the grocery store, will be taking one of the cages. Got out for a ride yesterday, new fork oil seems to be working well. 40 F when I started the ride, and clear blue Sky, beauty ride. Take care Y'all G

Morning all! It's grey and rainy here. 7C with a predicted high of 10C. We also have a wind warning with gusts to 90 kph. Not sure we need the warning cause it is definitely gusting out there.

The morning has been a bit of gong show; been having issues with internet connectivity, at one point thought I was going to have to make the trek to the office because I couldn't seem to get a connection here. That seems to have sorted itself out, for now.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Y'all, if I ever tried to MAKE my own furniture, I would just end up sitting on the floor amidst a pile of half-sawn wood, sawdust, and screws/nails. Because IT WOULD NEVER GET FINISHED. I haven't the time, talent, nor patience anymore to see something like that through...I know my limits. With that off my chest....

G'mornin' yall from SoMD! I woke to a sunny 33F/1C here as I suck down the last of my second cup of FR (or whatever it is...I don't care), thank you, Martin! Up to 47F already and supposed to climb well into the 50s before more rain comes through overnight and into tomorrow.

I am thankfully WFH for the rest of my work week as my boss has effectively banned me from the office until the season of peppermint bark giving is over, which she refers to as Christmas Crack. I brought a tin in yesterday and it went quickly. Despite assuring her I would not bring any more in this week before taking the next two weeks off, she told me to stay at home...who am I to argue that?

So, I sit here at my home-office desk sipping coffee and enjoying a chicken & gravy biscuit instead of wolfing down a bagel to get out the door. I will have to remember this strategy for next year....

Yesterday's concert went well, I got the outdoor volleyball net at work put away for the winter, and grabbed a couple more stands to refurb over the holidays. I got home tired, so I disappointed the wife by taking a nap instead of agreeing to look at her car that she reported was wrong with it. Slacker I am.

[time passes]

Well, I thought I had finished this and hit send. It's now 3+ hours later. This is how most projects in my house go. Not that anyone is waiting for my entry, but take care y'all!
