I am in the market for new tires (front and back). Local guy has Michelin ploit road 2 180. I have 170 now. I know the 180 is 10mm wider than
the 170. What effect does that have? Does anyone have any preference 170 or 180 and why?

Also he has Shinko tx25. Is this a good tire? I do like the Michelin ploit 2. It served me well and I expect to buy another.
Which tire would you choose or would you choose something else. Thanks in advance.

I am using the Pilot Road 2 on the rear of both of my 1300's and I like them a lot. I only have about 9,000 miles on one of them so I am not sure how far I will get out of them. I use the Elite 3 130/70 up front and that pair works well for me.

I have heard that some have used 180/55 rear tires with no problems. I have not and don't see any reason as long as the stock size is available. It is good to know in case a rear tire is needed on the road.
