Should be the 2nd, keeping with the Two-sday and 2nd month theme.... but i digress.

Morning all! French roast is in the pot.

Here in Oboville, it's a chilly -15/-19 in the pre-dawn darkness. Later, it may reach -1 with a cloud/sun mix.

I was thinking they should say they are making a Groundhog Day II movie, and just re-release the original.

Hope everyone's having a good day so far, and that it only gets better.

Thanks for the coffee, Obo. I like the idea about the GD sequel. Clever.

It's 20°F (feels like 21) and cloudy in Rockville, but the high may get into the middle 30s. Won't that be nice!

Empty Calendar Syndrome once again leaves my day free and clear for whatever I may choose to do to fill the time. At this particular moment, that looks like it may be a whole lot of not very much based on the current level of my ambition.

I had lunch yesterday with old friends. It's always nice when we get together, which unaccountably seems not to happen very often despite that we live less than five miles apart.

Stay safe and well everyone and tell your dear ones you love them. Do it today, NOW, for tomorrow may be too late.

Gonna have to make a spray booth with some sheets of painter's film... that plastic is static enough to catch the spray fog...

Yeah, and Tuesday is Monday's ugly twin... :cool:
 
Good morning, and thanks for the coffee start, Obo.

It's sunny and 2f/-16, rising to 34. Wind will be 5-10 mph.

Yesterday, I spent a few hours at the local ski area. I missed the powder of last week, but found great conditions anyway.
The new boots are working pretty well. I still can't see stepping out of the binding at the lodge, but the ABILITY will work when I need to walk to the train or lift in France at the end of the month.

As I started this, my phone alarm reminded me of a barber's appointment, so I'll be off to that in a few minutes. Gym, afterwards.
Since this is first Tuesday, I'll meet with my former fellow workers to catch up on things.

French Roast sounds good, Obo, and I'll be sure to confirm.
Gonna have to leave Kaiser at home today, too many percents for rain chances. I have rain clothes -- he doesn't. The raincoat I bought for him in XL a while back fits like it's a M. Either way, the trailer carpet would get wet even if he didn't, so that's a non-starter.
When it warms up again in a few days, I'll get back to searching for the reason the Element overheated.
Really, I will.
(I have my fingers crossed.)
Could get to 60 today, but colder again after the rains move out.
Always send to happen that way.

Why not?
Did they screw the boots to the bindings?
With today's technology, doncha just poke a ski tip in the release and pop out?
I haven't even seen a pair of skis in years.

That's so early 2000's....

Yes, they've evolved.

There's an outer exoskeleton that stays in the traditional style binding, and you can pop the snowboard like boot out of said exoskeleton. If you've ever walked in rigid ski boots you'd see the potential advantages in the new style system.

I have enough trouble navigating with traditional footwear!
I’ll stay in the chalet (very) near the adult beverage deployment area!

These boots look like snowboarding boots, and mount into a receiver, if you will, which then attach to the skis.
I see that Obo has already commented, and the Apex boots are what I have
 
Morning Y'all, Thanks Obo. How many decades ago was the last time I went Skiing? Prefer Water Skiing it's not as Cold, I think I was 46 when I finally managed to Ski on one Plank, which was the last time. You say it is Tuesday, or Garbage day, so yeah Garbage is on the road, and Breakfast has been made and eaten. Today's agenda, haven't the foggiest, hopefully Construction crew comes back and finishes Porch repairs. Weather looking like might be good for a ride today, Presently 45 F with a high of 56 this afternoon and Cloudy but no precipitation expected. Last night Wife and I managed to repair the Zipper on one of my Motorcycle Coats, Slider was gone bye-bye and one side the stitching had come loose. Well not much more to say, have a great day, G
 
The ski bindings I prefer are simply stiff rubber, permanently affixed to the ski. When I fall the entire unit slips off my foot / feet without a hitch. I'll admit to never having tried walking in them; to do so would require me to walk on water. (which I sometimes claim as an innate capability but only in fun and jest..)

Morning all! Grey and wet here again, made for a damp drizzly ride into work today. 9C right now with fog, 11C later.

Those new boots sure look comfy. Any time I purchased new boots, I took them to a fitter to get shaped into something I could wear all day. Had a pair once, where I had to tape my feet up with duct tape to prevent blisters. Lesson learned. When I was a volunteer ski patroller, the pro patrol guys/gals used to wear the telemark boots saying they were much more comfortable than the regular ones. Course they spent 10 hours+ in their boots, 6 days per week. The nice thing about the regular boots was when you were working on a wreck on an icy hillside, you could dig them in, wonder how the new boots would do at that.

Morning Obo & All from another sunny day in Southern Utah!

Currently it is 43F, up from 18F and heading for 57F. We have a slight breeze already blowing from the NE @ 1 to 5mph.

Skiing? Who me? I went snow skiing once, right after Chris and I were engaged. Her family had rented a cabin by Big Bear (SoCal) and I rented some skis from the base (big joke). They were the old lace up and the best I did was to ski down a hill in a golf course a couple of times. The skis were such a PIA to put on. :censored: Then there was the one time I went water skiing. I actually did pretty good. It took three times for me to get up and then I was able to stay up, pretty good. I was on the single ski by the afternoon. :thumb: And that my friends, was my skiing stories! :rofl1:

Yesterday I continued trimming the plastic around the base of the shed. I'll start dumping more gravel along the area where the I did the trimming. I can then move what landscaping block I have over there and start cleaning up the area where I want to put the new Greenhouse up.

Both Chris and I slept in late, so we just had cold cereal with bananas to start the day. Pepsi(s) will be had later.

These were fitted when I bought them. Strands is one of the best boot fitters in the state.
They ARE pretty comfey. With my other boots, I'd clamp them down for all they're worth. The new ones have two knobs on each boot, and a cable system that tightens the foot and calf. The tightness for each is the same for that knob, so you don't create a tight spot.

Regarding the icy hilliside scenario, you'd just step out of the skis, like any other boot. The exoskeleton and boot are firmly connected by the clips that you'd find on any ski boot. They keep the boot attached to the exoskeleton, so you don't need to really overtighten them

Nice! Glad they are working out. If I ever need new boots again, I will definitely look into a pair.

Re the icy hillside, it was more that my current hard shell plastic boots would possibly have an easier time digging the toes into the snow/ice. Minor concern no doubt, particularly given that's a low percentage requirement versus comfy feet for the vast majority of the ski day. :)
