what tyre brand do you rec for the st1300, for all weathers, especially rain

and can you just confirm the exact correct tyre sizes front and rear, I seem to have come across some contradictory confusion

thanks

See here for some guidance

Try out a set of tires that are sized for the ST.

Every one will not have the same experience, too man differing factors, location, riding styles, time if year, local surfaces.

I try different brands so I can compare MY specifics and get some good data.

Some have put wider rear tires on with mixed results.

Some have gone the darksider (rear car tire), or double darksider (rear car tire and rear MC tire on the front) to get insane mileage life.

thats quite an expensive hobby trying out stuff for data

why would you suggest those?
Because that's what he runs... others will say Avon, Dunlop, Michelin, you get the idea

Oh yes, this is not a cheap hobby, and Joe is outfitting two different style bikes(in case he finds grass he has to ride through). lol

Most of the tires available in the correct sizes for STs are going to be acceptable to most riders. I know this is a sweeping generalization, but few tires from major manufacturers have proven to be 'dogs' shunned my many riders. I think what Joe meant was he buys different tires when one set wears out to evaluate them on his bikes, for his style of riding. The alternative is to take someone else's opinion and treat it as fact, buy those tires and ride on them. If you don't ride with that person (whose opinion you liked) and know how he rides, what he likes in a tire, etc, treating his subjective opinion as fact is more or less a poke in the dark.

I confess I read opinions here, and bought Angel GT's based on the opinions of a couple of guys who are highly respected (here). I loved the tires and bought a second set. I've since sold my ST and from what I have read, those Pirellis are now made in China and may not be the same as the one's I bought years ago.

For what it's worth, I was looking for a tire that was excellent in rain. The Angel GTs were on my bike when I hit a damp painted line in a curve at around 15 mph, and the rear end slid out. Aside from that incident, I was happy with the tires.

Not at all, buy a set of tires, ride till they are done, note the mileage, get a different set the next time, if you feel like it, ride those till they are done, rinse and repeat...might take years to get all your data but what a great way to learn statistics lol

haha I dont think I do enough miles to used them up. I did 4500 over 33 years last time with another bike from new lol. I do my statistics trading gold and currencies. Have the world award for that.

I'm sorry to hear that, I hope life picks up for you. :rofl1:

why would you suggest those?
Because I liked the T-31s, which were widely recommended here, on my first 1100, and went with the T-32s when they came out (All non-GT tires).

The GT versions don't come in stock 1100 sizes. I chose stock sizes over the GT rating because I consider the handling to be more important than long life.

I also do not ride anywhere near enough to try many different brands. Tires last me two to three years.
