HI, can anyone help me with the torque settings for bolts that fix the water pump front cover.

I have tracked down a leak to the o ring seal to the front cover. When I get a new o ring the torque settings for the bolts will save me from over tightening.

So far I have removed all the plastic and checked possible causes of leaks that have been posted by other owners on the forum. I have managed to print a drawing of the componants from the forum, listing all of the parts, but cant seem to find any more tech information.

Any help with more info would be great.

My bike is an ST 1300A Pan European, I ride it every day all year round. It is a 2002 bike and has now traveled 22000 miles. This is the first fault and I am confident I can get it back on the road without much problems. I still think think the ST 1300 is the best bike for big miles and intend to get back on my bike as soon as I can.

Hope you can help....

That's strange....the ST1300 service manual does not list the torque values for the water pump cover bolts or for the clutch cover bolts which look to be the same size. If the values are there I couldn't find them.

Front of shop manual. 9# in my case 108 inch pounds.

Dave they are the same. WP cover bolts go through the clutch cover plate/cover. If U remover clutch pressure plate springs bolts? They are 108 inch pounds also.

Any X I torque less than 12foot lbs. I used inch pounds. 9#=108inch pounds.

DO NOT OVER TORQUE!

They will strip out...

I read the wrong torque spec and almost did one...:

Page 1-12 service manual 2003 ST1300. Standard Torque Values. 6mm Flange bolt (8mm head, large flange) torque is 9 ft lbs. or 108 INCH lb. (9x12= 108 INCH lbs)
