Good morning all
Yep, I’m at war with those critters! They’re keeping me awake - again! :confused1::shrug2:

Steve, I was happy to hear you are on the mend! Please, don’t push too hard, those tendons take a while to properly re-attach!

Other than a few annoying nights, things are going well for me.
I’m flying to Tampa on the 20th, then driving my sister to Nova Scotia, where she will be living in a retirement home. She has been in Florida for more than 30 years. I would think that will be quite an adjustment! But, at least she will be with most of her family.

Currently 5C with a high of 9 today.
Supposed to be chilly today, overcast later in the day.

I’d like to say hello to an old friend of ours, I’m hoping he stops by from time to time!

Enjoy your day!

Behold!
The sacred brew has arrived... :coffee:

687689593_122205204788547476_1242310427466576386_n.jpg

very comfy 14°C zis mornin'...
a few, scattered clouds, should reach 25°C during the day... 🌤️
choose to deliberately ignore today's 'rain warning'... ;)

home and office caffeinated... :coffee:

Only Wednesday... pfffff... that week like takes forever again...

attempted to figure out where to place the SENA RC3 remocon on ze GF's NT700VA last night...
by ze GF's demand we ended up with simply sticking it to the left side of her Schuberth C3 pro... 😆

then we successfully paired the thing to her headset...
tapping the center button still wouldn't open the BT channel to my SRL-II, whilst tapping mine reliably opened the connection to hers... 🤔
so while both sitting on the couch in my living-room, looking stupid with our helmets on, I noticed that her helmet speakers whispering
something like "... attempting connection ..." on which I instinctively pressed my center button on the SRL-II...
Guess what?!
... suddenly those things work again, not only like they're supposed to, but actually already did in the past... 🤔

And yeah, the bloody owners manual is of absolutely no help, the steps mentioned always differ from the actually required procedure... pfffff...
But the dreaded [phone connection] is mentioned like 20 times and explained in detail ad nauseam...

as the NT is due for the annual inspection today, I also detached the lead controlling her extra snail-horns...
last year the tech got quite moody about that and admonished her about removal... pfffff... 🤨
how else are you supposed to get noticed by a soccer mom in her bloody 2 ton SUV-tank ?!!!... deploying flares* from the tailcone?!! :cautious:
(* that would display some real attitude though... :devilish: )

While crawling around the bike's front end, I discovered another, new issue dawning...
the RH fork seal is starting to seep... quite recently I might add... (spruce pollen sticking to the now damp tube and dust seal...)
2 new sets are already ordered, another € 95.00,- spent... yeah, I'll do both legs while at it...

So this morning I packed a few sheets of kitchen towel, handed them over and admonished/reminded her to
clean that fork tube up before getting to the inspection station... and hope he doesn't notice... 🤔

Alright, we made it halfway through the week... that should count for something... 😎

Thx Brian!
These days I go to bed early, and wake up late…what a luxury!
Florida to Nova Scotia, wow, some change….

7˚c/45f, showers, 10 mph breeze from north, it feels cold.

A bicycle ride to buy some groceries.
A visit to the library.
Some cooking.
Cleaning and tidying up some tools etc used in my recent temporary deployment.

Yesterday I washed the car, incredibly dirty since the cross country drive.
Almost got a frost bite during the process.

Have a warmer one!
Stu

More fjordporn from my drive last Sunday…..Åkrafjord (looking east)

Good morning, everyone. Thanks for the coffee, Brian.

I was rudely awakened, way too early, by a thunder clap that shook the entire house. But, we’re finally getting some much needed rain. The forecasters say the predicted 2” still won’t move the needle on the severe drought meter and that we’ll need another 6-8” to get back to normal.

After my morning cup of ambition, I’ll see if the sound of the steady rain will lull me back to sleep.

We, south of chicago, have too much rain. I'll ask our governor if he'll blow some your way.
Based on April 2026 data, parts of Northern Illinois saw over 6–10 inches of rain, making it one of the wettest starts to spring in over 40 years :twist1:

Good morning all! And thanks for getting us started, Brian. Wet weather happening in these parts for a couple of days. Yesterday was warm and dry, but double extra windy! Did get in a couple sweet hours of riding, as well as a wee visit with one of my favourite daughters and grandkids. Got home, finished the oil change on my Tenere. So now that and the two Hondas are done, just remaining is servicing the Roadmaster. First oil replacement at 750 km. That ought to keep me entertained for today.

Morning all, and thanks Brian for the coffee.

NS's not a bad place to retire, all things considered. I think I'd pick that over Florida too.

7C, foggy and rain here, headed to 12C and maybe lose the foggy part.

Not much else on the books other than I listed my antique car for sale. Already have a serious buyer interested, as well as lots of trolls offering me $200.00 for it. Bloody idjuts. When it sells, there may be a MC tent trailer in our future. Mrs. O's says I might have a trailer problems and that 3 will be the limit. We'll see....

Hope everyone has a super day.

Obo.

Good morning and thanks for the coffee start, Brian.
Yeah, I'm taking it easy on the foot, not wanting to do further damage..

It's sunny and 47, becoming cloudy as the temperature rises to 54. Rain after around 2:00 pm.

After posting yesterday , I was reminded that it was first Tuesday, so I met with friends from our old jobs at Bose. We found out that one of the guys who managed to hang on there had finally gotten the axe. I worked with him when he was a line lead for our Lifestyle line , and he eventually became a fine engineer. He'll be fine , and he's using our network to find other work.

While I was gone, Brenda mowed our lawn. She had some initial problems with the garden tractor, but we sorted them out before I left.

I've got no real plans for today. I've been thinking about things I need at Home Depot , but really need to make a list.

Enjoy your day.
Steve

Good morning everyone

Thanks for the coffee, Brian. Hope you were able to tame the mind rodents, as I did yesterday (up at 0315, back to bed around 0830 for another 75 minutes of sleep).

It's 66°F (feels like 61) and cloudy in Rockville, where some amount of rain is either possible, likely, or going to happen, any time (possibly multiple times) between now and 0400 tomorrow. Total accumulation is forecast to be just a quarter inch, so it won't really break our drought, just as @Nashcat reported for central-west TN. The high is supposed to get to about 74.

In an hour or so I'll go pick up a small UHaul truck, and load our surplus dining set and a credenza so that they can be donated to a thrift store later today. In theory there's golf this afternoon but given the rain forecast that's a pretty questionable thing, I think, although there is a window of opportunity if the forecast is to be believed.

Stay safe and well everyone and tell your dear ones you love them. Do it today, NOW, for tomorrow may be too late.

Hey, all.
Before dropping in, I was reading about another GSA rider at the Other Place, who is having problems syncing his Sena, TFT, and phone. I've got a system that works for me without volume and song selection on my TFT, because is convoluted, a real big PITA, and is extraordinarily unreliable. First World problems.
Pfffttt.
Glad y'all got yours sorted, Martin.
Thanks for the coffee Brian, but if the hamsters have been playing in the coffee grounds, I'll pass. Don't want rat poop in my coffee, ever.
Send to me the retirement move from South to North, is contrary to the usual pattern. Most folk leave the blustery cold winters for a calmer, warm life in Florida, where the worst hassles are gators, hurricanes and traffic, in their later years.
Here we have a Weather Alert Day for potential storms later this evening, but as in John's case, we'll still be behind in our rainfall.
Kaiser stays home today.
I used to follow an older Canadian rider on YouTube who travels all over, towing a MiniMate travel trailer. They are a great way to ride while not having to sleep on the ground or in a hammock. I looked real hard at buying one, but couldn't figure out a way to bring Kaiser along.
NO!
A sidecar is NOT an option for us!
I'm sure there are other things to talk about, but I'll spare y'all the drudgery today.
Meanwhile, a refill of Black Rifle is in order.
Remember if you're riding, there's no such thing as bad weather -- only the wrong clothes.
Snow and tornadoes excepted.

@Sadlsor Old Guy on a Bike. I almost met him last year when we toured Nfld. We met up with Happy Rob and his Mrs. for a couple of days. He'd been out with Old Guy the week prior on a RockSToc (but not a SToc) ride across Nfld. We couldn't time our trip to tag along with the group the week earlier, but we did meet a few of the guys at a gas station as they were heading to catch the boat to leave Nfld.

Old Guy on a Bike.

He pulled the trailer with an ST1300 for a while (he's since switched to a vintage GoldWing, as shown in a 2024 video), and used to post here but I haven't seen anything from him in a while. I vaguely recall (perhaps incorrectly), that he had an accident of some sort a couple years back. I know he had the trailer disconnect while at speed once; it ended up in the ditch but was recoverable.

The other thing I remember was that he had installed several extra batteries and a couple solar panels to charge them (the panels mounted to the top of the camper trailer so they would charge the batteries while he was in riding) so he could have power pretty much wherever he went. If I ever get a similar trailer, and I've been contemplating doing so for a couple years, I'll try to follow his model.

I have a cousin who is a retired electrical engineer and also a private pilot. He put together a similar system so that he and his son could fly anywhere they could find a suitable landing spot and camp, entirely off the grid. I'll consult cousin Dave if and when the time comes.

I'm familiar with his videos & setup. He's had a few accidents since his trailer came un-attached, one of which resulted in his ST being damaged beyond repair (and thus the older GW.)

Following up on OGOAB: his March 2026 post says his older YT videos are gone because he got hacked on 20 March 2026... so it's a clean new start. What a shame, and to what purpose?

He's in the process of re-posting all that older content (hey hey and let's hear it for backups...), seemingly starting from the newest content and working gradually backward in time.

Your Google search results will mostly lead to "Playlist not found" errors because they haven't yet caught up to the hack.

I like this idea if it'll get tailgaters off my a**. Or a good smokescreen.

G'mornin' from the office! It was spitting this morning on the drive in as Keith reported. Expected to get heavier so didn't ride today but turned out to not be so bad. At least I got to sip my precious coffee while I sat in traffic, thank you, Brian!

Regular work day briefly interrupted by a lunchtime jazz concert. Playing most of the standards we have on file but mix in a few new ones. Fun and light-hearted. Not much else otherwise. Take care y'all!

Morning Brian & All from overcast Southern Utah!

Currently it is 55F, up from 44F and heading for 65F. Rain all around, but we haven't seen a drop. No breeze right now, but later the winds will be out of the N @ 17 to 24mph.

OGOAB, was stuck in Cedar City a couple of years back. I found out after. I contacted him and told him that he should have checked the RAN list on ST-Owners and he would have found me and save all those hotel bills. Oh well.

Yesterday, after breakfast I developed something that made me pretty much stay indoors. I'm doing better today, so I hope to get back at it on the front planter. Chris and I discussed it and we have some plants we'll put in it.

Once Chris awakes, we'll get some breakfast. Pepsi(s) will be had, later.

Anyone :bl13:, have a great day on the roads! :hat3:

Morning all! Hazy partially overcast morning here.10C now, 19C later. Windy as heck though and temps will be a bit lower for the remainder of the week.

The neighbour is putting in a new fence along the back of their property that partially abuts ours to replace an ancient one that had fallen over in one spot. He had a guy with a mini excavator come in and clear out the brush that had accumulated and also to pound in the posts. It was a pretty neat attachment that functions like pile driver on the end of his excavator arm. The wire goes up today and so will end his dogs escape adventures. I went out to watch for a bit but didn't have a shovel to lean on so felt out of place and went back inside to work.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Day eh! Yeah I'm late. Dan and Adam showed up about the time I was going to post, two coats of sealant have been applied to the kitchen floor. In a couple of hours I can go make lunch. Also been working on the Dune buggy, installing the rear light bar. Was going well till I started to rewrap the wiring, one of the wires going to a stop light broke off right at the base of the light. It's going to be fun replacing said wire. Might involve a trip to the bike shop as in father in law used Suzuki lights. 14 C and Cloudy. Stay healthy G

Hey Brian. Thanks for the coffee.

It was cool start to the day. Forecast was overcast and high of 12°C. On the Triumph after skating with @kiltman temp read 14°C and sunny. Nice. We had a nice lunch after and discussed the upcoming riding season. Lots of RTE's and RTC's if y'all are interested. Stay tuned.

Brian. We just had some dealings with rodents - of various sizes - in our hood. Our beagle has been quite intrigued around our shed and the wood pile. Thot I'd oblige the curiosity and discovered some digging. Further investigation found holes chewed thru in the side of shed. So a large mouse (aka rat) trap was set and caught the culprit. Our adjacent neighbour also discovered a hole under her shed. I mentioned to her that it could a be a female racoon looking to have kits. We are assuming because our beagle flew out the patio door after a coon on the fence one night last week. Our neighbour decided to backfill in the hole and hope the she-coon had vacated. Time will tell. To report I've certainly trapped slot of field mice in our shed. Last year I lost count after 15.

Hope everyone has a great day.
Dave
