Good morning everyone

The coffee maker just sang, so the carafe is full. Mayorga Roasters Cubano Roast is what's in it, and it'll wake you right up.

It's cloudy and 75°F in Rockville, with high odds of rain for much of the day.

I have tentative plans to meet someone for a bicycle ride today but it's likely to be a washout.

My buddy who stayed with me a week ago is here again, passing through on his way back th Charlotte from his family vacation in Goose Beach, ME. It's always a pleasure to see him.

Stay safe and well everyone and tell your dear ones you love them. Do it today, NOW, for tomorrow may be too late.
 
Thanks for the start the carafe reminds me of the old glass coffee pots in the restaurants maybe they still use them somewhere
Some good weather here in the lower mainland calling for about 16 to 26C coming week days with no rain though
we had enough smoke in the air that you could feel it yesterday hopefully it clears up a bit
Will make some more landscaping / perimeter decisions and a list of garden ties or whatever to shore up the "dedication " retaining wall discrepancy I was left with
I've got a part slopping part jagged cliff edge along the long side of my property now where my gifted new fence line runs...
But it runs! And Im glad to have it especially for free!
After various failed proposals of prospective developers the final project resulted in the 150' sort of half width lot along my west side becoming a "dedication " to the city, some landscaping with shrubs and a couple park benches
I think that was the best outcome of all possibilities; no buildings, no parkade tunnel and gratefully only four parallel parking spots twenty odd feet away
The new street lights along the side and back lane (it's a lane now; not an alley) light the area up a bit too much for our liking but it's all finally completed in an overall not bad way.
The closest building on the main property is set back not far enough and at four stories it's now a Holywood Squares sort of thing but that's Vancouver; could have been worse
Watching a neighborhood undergo urban densification on two fronts for three years draws you into the process and introduces you to new and interesting people whether you like it or not. And then it's over and everyones gone and it's quiet 😳
almost time for a ride will find a parking spot to slide the blackbird into at the Poco car show and see a few compadres

It's sunny and 59, rising to 80, later.
We'll be a bit south today, in NJ for my aunt's 90th birthday gathering. I haven't got many left, and we used to regularly stop in, when we visited NJ with the kids.

I managed a gym visit yesterday, and surprised the server at our regular Chinese restaurant by coming in a day early.

Yesterday was buy some groceries, as the cupboards & fridge were bare. The cat also stuck to us like glue. I'm sure she was miffed that we went away the 1st weeks, to come home for 2 days, to go away again the 2nd week.

Thanks for the brew, Keith. I don't know where Mayorgas is, but it sounds like it's in Central America, unless that's just the brand name.
Maybe it is, but I like coffee grown in volcanic soil.
Or maybe I'm just projecting.
Speaking of projects, I made progress with the Element yesterday. The official Honda 3- volume service manual includes a very detailed troubleshooting process for the issue I'm having with the radiator fans not coming on.
Of course, first check the fuses (both), then the relay... so @Obo was on the right track, and at about Step 13, after several other tests for continuity here, battery voltage there, it instructed me to disconnect the radiator fan switch, on the wiring side.
So following the directions, I jumpered the 2 female pins together and both fans came on immediately.
(I forgot whether the fan relay was installed or removed at this point.)
Mother Honda said this means it's now time to replace the fan motor switch.
Cool.
Called Advance Auto, nada. Ain't got none for my vehicle.
Decided not to spend the afternoon fruitlessly searching around town, and went to RockAuto. 18 bucks. Then 27 bucks with shipping.
Then decided to look at Amazon. 7-fifty with tax, free shipping -- for the same brand and model switch that RockAuto has for 4x the price.
Who's the cheap S.O.B. around here?

In addition to that, I put the edger attachment on the Ryobi weed-whacker and edged both sides of the driveway, reclaiming about two feet of driveway width.
All the creeping sod I removed went to fill a couple holes in the front yard near the street.
A while back, Alabama Power came and cut down two small trees that might one day threaten the power lines directly above them, leaving depressions in the yard that frustrate cutting the grass.
Those holes are now filled, and one day grass will grow there and the yard will be more level and conducive to mowing.
Probably lost 4lbs of water weight, with all the sweating.
So, three small wins I think, or four if you count the shower.
I filled a small plastic kiddie pool with water, to see if Kaiser wanted to cool off in it, but he did not get the intent. He would only put his front legs in, and it was only about 7 inches deep.
But he did enjoy splashing the water with his feet.
Maybe I'll take today off.
And I'm overdue for a Black Rifle refill.

The kiddie pool I bought is barely 4 feet across, and only about 9 inches deep. Plus the back yard, where it's shaded, slopes so I couldn't completely fill it.
We couldn't both fit in it.
Besides... I was working, for a change.
Other than that, I know he loves water, because we've been swimming in lakes and streams, and he does really well sitting still in a canoe.
 
Morning Keith & All, from sunny, SOuthern Utah!

Currently it is 71F, heading for 86F, no clouds in the forecast, like yesterday, but we had a lot of clouds show up in the afternoon yesterday, but rain, only in the distance. We'll see what today brings. No breeze out there yet, but later, the winds will be out of the WSW @ 9 to 15 mph.

Mark, glad to see you got he fans issue figured out. I hate electrical problems. o_O

I'm still fighting that crud. But this morning I'm feeling like the nasal stuffing is nowhere near what is was. So I'm hoping by Monday, I will feel good enough to get back out in the yard and get something done. So many projects!

Today will be church, so that's pretty much my schedule, besides still taking it easy.

We'll have some boiled eggs with bacon, toast & OJ, once Chris wakes. I'll probably start the eggs for her in a bit. Pepsi(s) of course for later.

G'mornin' G'dafternoon from SoMD! I think I got to sleep in about as much as I could be allowed, the Prince Of Purrsia graciously allowing me to stay in bed until 0732 before choking me awake with a 14-lb foot to the throat hole. Yeah, love you too. :cautious:

Currently 77F/25C and patchy rain as Keith can attest. Got the lawn mowed down yesterday in anticipation of today's rain. Rolled out & fired up the riding mower to make sure it worked. Gave it a quick oil shine too.

Yesterday the wife finished her horse show classes a champion, and I'm extremely proud of her and her horse. They both fought injury, illness, and persevered through it to gather enough points to place 1st. From what it sounds like, the competing riders had to fight the same demons but couldn't get well enough to muster enough showings to challenge. I guess it was finally her year.

Then it was off to ref volleyball, a beginner's league that saw everybody's patience tried but in a good way. They are just learning the sport, so shanked balls and awkward stares at each other when the ball drops right between them were de rigeur. But it is those moments: you see them make a play, the thrill on their faces, congratulating each other for a good rally...that's worth it to me even though I must remain stoic up on the hunter's stand.

Then a casino party in a former neighborhood and ran into a former co-worker that lives there. We got to chat a bit before it got busy. I was embarrassed to forget his name then, but was good to see him doing well. The evening went smooth otherwise...easy money.

Today I guess will be inside honey-dos. Taking it easy otherwise. Take care y'all!
 
I was beginning to wonder if the Element has to be "burped " like some other vehicles (including mine)
I refilled, ran and topped up my wrangler with the front end quite high and still had to top up (to half way) the overfill tank a couple times over a few days but no trouble like some have mentioned trying to get the air out
I was starting to wonder if i had a gasket leak though
