What did you do on your Kawasaki today?

Dunno, I couldn't see anything! :rofl1:

They have 70kph dropping down to 50 in the small villages... didn't spot any police this time around.

Started filming the abandoned houses, etc., I see while riding. Have to find a use for the new drone.... There's an Alfred Hitchcock moment about halfway thru the video.

Well, It was not my Versys 1VK, but my Son-In-law's bike. Which I maintain for him. (He is a bit moyorcycle mechanically challenged) A 2015 V1K with 8434 miles on it. SIL has only put 2400 miles on it in over 5 years. Been after him for months to get it over to the house so I can change the oil and check it over. He also does not ride it a lot. In the last 15 months it has only had 150 miles out on it. I told him to sell it but he does not want to. If I did not already have my 2019 V1K I would make him an offer to buy it . So yesterday he finally brought it over and it is on the rack getting an oil change today.

Here it is next to my 2019 Versys

Visited Turkey, TX for lunch and a ride around Caprocks Canyon State Park. Turkey is known as the home of Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys (and not much else.....).DSCN0874-1.jpg

I ordered it today. Looks like I will be back on two wheels in a couple of weeks :biggrin::biggrin:

Close. A Versys 650 LT. Really wanted an RS or RT but can't justify the expense not really knowing how all of this is going to work now that Karen can travel. Figured it best to ease back into riding and not spend a lot. Found a new 2023 in a warehouse somewhere and it's supposed to be shipped sometime.......vague, I know. I will be ready when it gets here. It's been a long four years since I've owned a bike.

Great bike!

Sate Route 148 that goes through Cedar Breaks NM in SW Utah opened up on Tuesday. It gets closed in the winter and is a snowmobile trail through the park. I always go up when it opens up to see how much snow is left from the winter. So, the KLR needed a good run. It was a good 90 mile ride.

This drift is on the edge of the canyon. The wind blows the snow up the canyon and then dumps it. The drift is about 25 feet tall. I was riding my snowmobile over the part of it that is on the edge of the road over the winter. It was completely across the road over the winter.

Didn't ride today. Still have a little under 400 miles until the break-in oil change so no long distance camping trips until after that. I should be able to get there by the end of the month... or soon after that.

Today I replaced the rear frame on my Kawasaki Vulcan S with the official Kawasaki part to add the passenger peg bracket. I don't intend to install the actual passenger foot pegs, just need the brackets to be there for the Shad 3P mounting frame. Then I installed the 3P frame parts and mounted my new Shad SH23 side cases. Glad I had to do this rear frame replacement since I found the upper right side frame bolt was very loose. All is tight to proper torque now.

This shows the parts on each side that needed to be replaced to mount the Shad system. The frame part I am holding has the foot peg bracket and the installed frame in this pic does not. The pillion and passenger foot pegs are an option from Kawasaki. The bike comes from the factory as a solo rider.

This shows the left side installed. I used a black nylon spacer that I had on hand to cover the exposed threads of the bolt at the foot peg bracket. The Battery Tender connector was installed by the dealer and I decided to leave it where it now is.

Do these make my rear look fat?

Since this bike has no center stand and the cat is the big box-like thing on the bottom just in front of the rear tire I bought a set of paddock stands. These will make it a lot easier to do maintenance on both the front and rear wheels... especially cleaning and lubing the chain as well as removing the wheels at tire change time.

I picked up a low mileage used 2013 F-150 from a friend in So Cal. I am in UT, so how do I get down there to pick it up? The KLR of course!

Loaded up for the trip. The top case is loaded with tools to do some maintenance work on the SUV they replaced the truck with. It was 35 degrees when I started out.

The trip took me down I-15 through Las Vegas and then the Mojave Preserve. 400 miles later, I arrived at my destination. The bike did great and was more comfortable than I thought it would be for a straight 400 mile day. The Air Hawk seat pad was a must to make this trip.

The friend had ramps, so I got the bike loaded up easy enough.

Now back to UT in my new to me truck!
