What size is an ST1300 valve stem?

I bought some 90-degree valve stems for when I do my tire change, thinking that the ST1300 used an 11mm valve stem. (I did a search for "ST1300 valve stems" and went with what I found.)

However, now that I have the package, they seem larger than I can use. I don't know if it's just that the 90-degree stem is longer, or that I bought the wrong size. If I open the package, I won't be able to return it.

Does the ST1300 use an 11mm valve stem, or an 8mm one?

I used the 90-degree valve stems on my KTM 950, for the same reason I want them for the 1300... disks get in the way of many air nozzles.
That said, there is a camp of naysayers who insist they throw the wheels out of balance.
What say YOU?

You install the stems and THEN balance the wheel. (Kinda hard to do it the other way round, isn't it?) Ever look at a crankshaft with staggered throws? Those can be balanced so why not adding a half or one ounce weight on the rim of a wheel? Careful balancing will take care of this.

There are also folks out there who maintain the earth is flat.

I say all those complaints don't amount to doodley squat... when you put them in, you're going to more that likely be changing the tires... certainly you're going to have them balanced, so what's the problem? I've been using them for years in my wheels without any problem.

You don't want those on the ST. These are the ones you need.

What he said.
I had one like you have pictured mounted nearly kill me.
The weight of that thing was enough to flex the base open. Amazingly the shop had just put a new tire on. It should have been replaced then. image.jpg
The one in the package does not look that bad but aluminum is the way to go.

That's an odd duck there. Behind the package the stem looks to be lock in place similarly to the stems on GoldWings or at least the factory stems on my buddy's 2005 'Wing.

It's also an odd installation since the stem appears to be parallel with the wheel instead of perpendicular to it. I read somewhere that the Ariete and similar stems avoid centripetal force from potentially affecting the valve core. The T-Valves are significantly heavier than the Ariete style so unless a rider thinks there might be a possibility of going TMPS that installs ON the stem instead of replacing a stem the Arietes are a lighter though more expensive.
