Merry Christmas everyone :capwin: I have been trying to fit my bikes present - Honda heated grips - phew, those connecting wires are short. Anyway, a question about the quartet harness, where on the wiring does it connect ?
I cannot see any spare 9 pin connectors ! so maybe it has been used (I have a fancy alarm system fitted). Should the harness connect into the bundle that has a clear plastic shroud over it, or into the block of connectors that sits in the clip in the left panel ? Thanks. :03biker:

It connects inside that clear shroud to a 9 pin. If there's something already plugged in there, then you've more than likely already had the quartet harness installed.

I think you've looked at the article that's been written but it's under the left side fairing right behind the radiator. There's a cluster of connectors under a translucent hood.

Look at the picture in Step 8 on the installation article and you'll see the radiator hose that comes of the top left back side of the radiator. Just behind that you'll see the translucent connector hood. There are 4 connectors in there. The one that isn't connected to anything is the one that attaches to the quartet harness.

Quartet Harness Installation Tutorial

Thanks folks. I found it at last at the bottom of the clear shroud. Seems I dont have a quartet harness, so will have to buy one when the shops are open again.

By the way, after checking the wiring my console display was flickering on & off, and after starting the bike, it stopped when I put the lights on !!!

After some investigation I found that one of the wires in a six-way connector was completely corroded & just fell away from the spade connector. My bike is only 12 months old so this really shouldn't happen so soon. It's not the first electrical problem as I also had great difficulty getting a headlight bulb out. That too had corroded in place ! I never had these sort of problems on other bikes (Kawasaki & Yamaha) that had done far more mileage.

Anyway, I could not fix the block connector so had to by-pass just for these wires so I could connect them Up & get the bike going.

In future I will make it a service check to inspect wiring and connectors & grease up to keep them protected. :03biker:

Anyone know if the nine pin connector on the bike is protected by fuses on the bike? Should one be installed inline between the harness and item being connected to it for protection? Or does it make any difference at all?

To be safe you should have a fuse inline with devices you hooked to the harness but there is a 15 amp fuse in the bike's fuse block for the switched power on the harness.

Check out Ebay for the harness, I have seen one on there recently and it was going for a song!

Honda Direct has them for $15.95. Got mine last week and installed it this past weekend.
