Which windshield would you choose if you need to buy it now?

My current one is Aeroflow. It's BIG, but it has a lot of scratches and it's getting dull. Thinking of getting a new shield. What brand would you choose? Been considering clear view and California scientific, but not sure if they are still in business......o_O

"Right now" is relative but if the time frame allowed it would be one from Bike-Quip.

Never heard of this one, but it looks nice. Do they ship to the US?

Yes. I don't remember what the shipping was but you can find it on their site. It wasn't shocking is all I remember.

I don't really need a new shield but it's been recommended by a couple of venerable members as the flip reduces helmet buffeting and provides more wind protection. A search should turn up more info than what I have.

You're probably aware that almost every windshield with more surface area than the stocker may cost you some MPG so it's a YMMV situation.

Just as an experiment, have you tried using Plexus on it and giving it a good cleaning and polish?

My last two bikes had scratched and dulled / yellowed windshields, and in both cases I used Plexus and some clean microfiber towels. The dull yellow haze was cleaned off, and all but the most severe scratches were removed quite nicely. It took some time and elbow grease (maybe an hour or so), but in both cases it turned the shields from "I need to replace this" to "Hey, that's not so bad after all".

Just a suggestion.

I like my V-stream, no buffeting and no distortion from the flip to look at.

I got a Calsci - about 2" longer than his stock one. Wrote a review of it elsewhere - search for other comments on each brand you are considering in the search box top right of this page. Liked it, and bought one for my V Strom. Short of trying several brands back to back on the same bike on the same day and course, its going to be a crap shoot picking one. Too many variables when you read other guys' reviews. I go for customer service, and while the guy at Calsci (Mike?) might be a character, I say that in a good way, I like him, have gotten good, and fast, service, and he will make custom variations (with or without vents, height changes, etc.). What else do you want. Look at his website and the info he has posted about oil and filters. No, this is not an earl thread.

Try Slipscreen. UK based. Fast shipping. No more buffeting. Tried Calsci, did not work for me.
Tested up to 120 mph.

Yes they are have one on mine and think its the best one out they owning Four ST1300's

I'm actually very happy with the OEM windshield on my ST 1300 - I have one of the ones that is electrically adjustable up and down, and I can always find a perfect spot for it during city riding, rain, or high speed riding.

I did replace the OEM windshield with an aftermarket one (Clearview) on my ST 1100, but I think Honda got it right with the ST 1300 windshield.

I think the most notable difference in oem and my Bike Quip is the feedback I got from my wife on the back. Plus, the tinted shield looks way better.

Bought a bike-quip last year. Wish I had gone with my other choice, Clearview.
I got a deal on my Cleaview GT,, purchased new about 3 full seasons ago. I have to admit that it performs and has stood up very well. I had originally wanted the one made by the aircraft manufacturer (the no longer do bikes now),,, but am glad that I went with the one that went on sale. For the money,, I have to recommend it,,, the GT, which I bought as a plain jane medium (no GW vent or cats-eyes). I think the oem is decent for day rides,,, but for 10+ hour stuff I prefer a bit more area. I keep it almost totally down, which lets me look over it while the "flip" puts the airflow mostly above my helmet and shoulders. Oh,, and it works well with the mirror deflectors,,,, cheers,,, CAt'
