Good morning, sleepyheads. I have a nice pot of Café William Sumatra blend (a nice, rich, dark roast) ready for you to enjoy, so step right up.

I did not put so much as the tip of my nose outside yesterday, but I heard it got pretty icy and miserable out there. I'm glad I did that, as I needed that extra day to chill and recover from last week's shenanigans. Now, it's back to work time.
It's very cold and very windy out there today, and I hope the sidewalks haven't turned into a giant skating rink, what with yesterday's freezing rain+rain mix. I guess I'm about to find out. The current temperature is-11°C/12°F with a feels-like of -23°C/-9°F, and it doesn't look like it'll get any warmer, and we'll get wind gusts of up to 75 km/h (47 mph) before the blow starts to die down later this afternoon. Hope the bus isn't late!

Well, time to make the donuts, as they say. Any of my fellow Canucks remember that old Tim Hortons ad? Everybody have a fine day indeed, stay safe and go safely. And remember, only 2 days left in the year. Hey, 2025, don't let the door hit you in the derrière on your way out!!

Ta ta for now,

Patty

Good morning everyone

It's New Year's Eve Eve, Day 364 of 365 scheduled dates for the year. Let's share some of the French roast I've prepared as we look back and reminisce, shall we?

It's 29°F and mostly cloudy here in Rockville, where it feels like 4°F. Brrrrrr. It'll rise to just the freezing point before dropping back into the middle 20s.

The heavy winds we experienced yesterday afternoon and overnight have continued (I can see the treetops swaying even in the murky predawn darkness) with a wind advisory in effect until noon local time. This is one of those days that make me grateful I don't have to be outdoors for extended periods.

I'll make a trip to Lowes today to pick up the last materials for the bench, and a fresh bottle of glue to stick them all together. Other than that, my plan is to hunker down in the workshop, crank the space heater up, and keep plugging away.

stay safe and well everyone and tell your dear ones you love them. Do it today, NOW, for tomorrow may be too late.

When in doubt, make coffee...
When certain, also make coffee...
Coffee always provides an answer... :coffee:

G'Day...

-3°/2°C, sunny and clear, quite windy... and a little snow during the night...

multiple caffeinated, fresh baked sunflower seed/corn bread, soft boiled hen-fruit (rare and pricey due the current shortage...)

We were also gifted with some 'festive collection' series capsules... 🎄
brews that are not designated to get just gulped down as a simple morning kick-starter...
Those need to be celebrated... :coffee:
We started with Sweet Almond and Hibiscus... yeah sounds odd at first, but quite delightful when taken pure...
small sips, inhaling through your teeth, roll it around in your mouth for a moment... like old Scottish Whisky...
Great for a calm afternoon coffee, maybe with cookies or some Manner wafers...

This morning I woke up by a "thump!"...
That parcel monkey exceeded in ignoring the two humongous parcel-boxes left and right of the gate,
by rather throwing that large paper bag over the fence... right into the fresh snow...
So I got up and hurtled through the garden to recover it, with strong gusts blowing flakes/ice crystals right into
the collar of my thick fleece jacket and the garden Crocks... EEEEEK!... quite cold on bare feet, yikes... 🥶

But YAY! GF's new riding suit has arrived... 😎

So after the breakfast she put it on and went out for an actual test flight... ;)

the empress's new clothes... 😎

Typical GoreTex gear: fully comfy outside, but you won't break out in soaking sweat when coming inside the warm house...
Still: € 965,-... <couch!> even on sale quite an impact...

Next: tacking that NT700VA back together... then the season can start... 😎

Thanks for sharing the Sumatra, Patty. I like the dark and bold ones.
Honorable mention to Keith, and FR is always a good choice.
At the house it's Black Rifle, just black, or something. Y'all can finish the pot if I don't, I'm meeting 2 rider coach buddies in a few minutes for a sub-arctic glacier ride to Stagecoach, in just a few.
First my personal antifreeze prevention.
Brrrrr! At 26° when I woke up.
Maybe it's 29 by now.

Good morning, all. Great! A double dose of caffeine this morning.

Did they put a tariff on Fahrenheit’s? They’re getting harder to find. I could only locate 23 tiny ones this morning.

Last evening, my neighbors came over, bringing a cupcake, complete with a candle to wish me a happy birthday. Then, their 10 years old son said, ”I made them.” I ate it anyway.

Thx Peppermint and Keith!
A wonderful blend indeed.

Around freezing, snow, hail, sleet, almost calm.

Son and GF packed up his car and left to spend the new year celebration on a ski resort with a lot of friends.

Last night we had a really good steak, which I grilled wearing arctic clothing and a headlamp….
Sad to see them leave( no not the clothes..), but that’s life.

Today is almost next to nothing.
Making a special dessert for tomorrow, and then tidy up the garage so my car fits in.

Have a good one, and try not to be sceptic to those who like them dark and bold like @Sadlsor ..

Good morning Patty and Keith (and all the rest of ya). I think I need a cup of each please!
Currently partly sunny and 14F/-10C with the forecast high to be 16F/-9C, dropping to 9F/-13C towards evening. This is a drastic change from yesterday where it was in the lower 30s and rained quite hard a good portion of the day. The temperature change has created an icy wonderland (as in, if I step outside I wonder if I will fall on my a$$). The upper flat part of my driveway appears to be ready for a hockey game. I was startled a few minutes ago to hear a commotion outside and was greatly surprised to see the town sand truck leaving sand on the lower portion that slopes up from the road. It is nice to live in a small town!
After more coffee and some breakfast I'll toss some sand around up top to make it less of a death trap. I'll likely wait until tomorrow to venture out for more sand as I only have 100 pounds here.
Be careful, be safe and let's head towards the new year with coffee in hand!

Good morning, and thanks for the double shot of coffee, Patty and Keith.

It's 22, going to 25 under partly sunny and windy skies.
The wind made the pilot of our plane work for that landing, this morning. 20-30mph with gusts over 40.

We landed a little before 6:00, and were home by 7:30.
Dropped the bags off inside, and went to Carl's Diner for breakfast.
I had to put a bunch of ice-melt on the walk and driveway, since it looked like sah48's driveway.
Once home, we picked up all of Freya's things, and I went over to the VCA animal hospital to settle her bill.
It's going to be quiet around here.

Since we only got about an hour of sleep last night, a nap in the recliner is in order, while Brenda heads upstairs for her nap.

Enjoy the day,
Steve

If anyone is interested, I have 24 Fahrenheit’s that I will swap for same number of Celsius.

John and Teddy.
Sorry John, just went from 32 to 33... I almost had to put on longer shorts.

Morning Patty, Keith & All from sunny, but cold, Southern Utah!

Currently it is 22F, up from 15F and going to 45F. It looks like we'll have some clouds and winds later. The winds will kick up from the NNW @ 5 to 6mph.

Yesterday, Chris and I dropped off a letter at the PO, then got some lunch, dropped off that Failed Bird Feeder and got my truck washed. And that was the excitement for the day.

Today, probably won't be that exciting either.

No Chris yet, so we'll have to wait to find out what is in store for us, for breakfast. She tells me she's getting tired of all the eggs we've been eating. But she'll never tire of having a Pepsi or two. ;)

Anyone :bl13:, have a great day on the roads! :hat3:

Well John, we only have 16 Fahrenheit’s = -9 Celsius here in the bay.
So please forgive me, I’ll keep every Celsius I have! :spank1:
