Well, I'm 67 and learned something new, today. Who knew how easy it is to repair a zipper?
Recently, the leg zipper on my riding pants got stuck, and in trying to get it loose, I broke the loop on the slider, where the pull attaches. I first thought that a new zipper would have to be sewn in. Well, that led to a search for zipper repair, and that led to many web sites that sell zipper PARTS! I had never considered replacing a slider on any zipper and have thrown away several pieces of clothing, over the years, that I didn't think it was worth the effort to have a new zipper installed. Well, yesterday Amazon delivered a $11 assortment of zipper sliders and today my pants are fixed. Plus, I now have spares for any others that may break.
Some can't be fixed if they're missing teeth or the bottom pin on a jacket is missing, but from what I read, 90% are caused by a bad slider. Who knew?
