Need some advice on a KTM (or other) enduro type bike

Thanks again for the input. After more research, I think we're going to shoot for a WR450F or a DRZ400. At least I've got it down to 2!

Any specific years to be aware of? Any must have farkles? Anyone close by with a good one they'd like to part with? Not interested in rebuilds or project bikes. Want to just buy and ride, or close to that.
 
Thanks again for all the advice. I ended up getting a stock 2009 WR450F. I don't regret getting a 450 instead of a 250 for him... he's able to handle the power quite well.... he really likes it and rides it better than I do!
