So I recently got a cycle hill changer (thanks Mitch!) and just installed my first ever tire-a front T31 GT.
I put the rim only on the balancer and made a small dot at the heavy spot.

I managed to get the dot on the tire (light spot) exactly matching the dot on the rim (heavy spot) without too much trouble.

Putting the pair on the balancer, there doesn't seem to be a consistent heavy spot now except when I screw on my TPMS sensor onto the stem.

Should I even bother installing beads or just leave it alone?

About 30% of the time when I change tires they are good without any weights at all. I typically call it a day at that point.

Make sure you balance the tire with the TPMS sensor screwed on. They don't weight much, but if you're already balancing the tire might as well add it.

I went ahead and added the beads since I already had them. The balance was so neutral I'm sure I could have done without.
It certainly cant hurt....
