• Start with a City beginning with A
    • This is BY STATE
    • Similar to the Tag contest, there will be one thread per state
    • Post a picture of your bike AND some sign, building etc which clearly shows the city/state you're in
    • The next person posts from a city with the name beginning with B, then C, D, etc
    • You can't posts back-to-back pics, you have to wait for a person to post the next city
    • Once Z is reached, the game starts over with A
    • If your state doesn't have a city beginning with the next letter in sequence, it's okay to skip that letter
    • If the location sits for more than one month, the person that posted that is open to move it to the next letter.

The World Wide game is a bit different as it is by whatever is considered a geographic type of regional category, state/province/village etc. and all those will be in the single World Wide A-Z topic.

TN: A to Z (Round 5)

Orme -- hard to get to: one road from Alabama to the south; one road from the north. Neither one worth a hoot. The "O" on the building makes for good target practice.SUNP0003.JPG

Nicely done. My trip to NC earlier this summer got rained out, not once but twice...grrrr. I had a route planned to stop in Old Fort and/or Ocoee. Friends & I are going to try the trip again in September after it cools off a little. I'll have to redo my route...

Rained enough to keep cool without getting soaked.

The only "X" place name I can find in Tennessee is Xenophon. But on Google maps street view I can find no building or road sign that has the name. So I'm jumping to "Y." If anyone objects, I'll delete this message.

Yell, TN. This church is the only building I can find with the place name. It's actually just about the only building around besides farmhouses & barns.

I know Yell well. My home county. And I have been in that church many times. I wish there were something in Xenophon but it seems to be lost to history.

The road that turns off of Yell road at the church is Bivins Road - named after my great grandfather who owned a big farm back behind that church. There is an old log cabin in the bend of the creek on that road where my maternal grandmother was born. And his two sons (my great uncles) owned land back there also. IIRC, that church is where he attended. Yell Road is a good road and Springplace Pike (the next one over) is a really good one also.

Based on a Wikipedia list (https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Category:Unincorporated_communities_in_Tennessee&from=Z), the only Z place names I can find in Tennessee are Zenith (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zenith,_Tennessee) and Zu Zu (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zu_Zu,_Tennessee).

Zu Zu has no identifying signs that I can find on Google Maps street view; interesting that it's just up the road from Yum Yum though! (https://goo.gl/maps/pdcniKPTWnJvh8Qu7)

Zenith doesn't even show up in Google Maps' list of named places. There is a Zenith Campground & Stables (https://zenithstables.com) so I guess that would count.

Anyone know of any other Z places in TN?

There's a place near Pigeon Forge called Zion Hill and one called Zion up towards Jamestown. I was going there possibly Sunday so we could start again
