Check out the RAN list and give a neighbor a call. Blue band atop this page, >Riding>RAN Lists>US RAN Lists. The Rider Assistance Network will show you who lives nearby. Once upon a time there was a member map showing screen names superimposed over the US map. You could zoom in and find people who live near you (or near a destination) and then PM them. I'm not sure where this map is now, a few years ago it was a voluntary thing to be listed.
