NEW 2012 gas mileage

Re: NEW 2012 gas milage

Somebody hold my beer....I got this :rofl1:
To be continued - :call:

Re: NEW 2012 gas milage

While it won't account for a 10 MPG difference, I've always found you can't rely completely on the trip computer to accurately calculate MPG. I have always found it under-Calculates up to 2 MPG.

Re: NEW 2012 gas milage

Do we have a new status on this? Was the issue figured out yet?

Re: NEW 2012 gas milage

:new: :attentio: Our friend is half way home :mcrider:
:rain1: waiting to hear how his trip home was.
:wasntme
We just spoke very softly and quietly, in low tones..... almost a Whisper...:rofl1:

Very good news Larry! Does that mean we have to wait for him to tell us what you found? :eek:4:

Re: NEW 2012 gas milage

I am waiting to hear how his trip home was just like you :rofl1:
I will say he was all over the bike like flies on poop (can I say poop on this site?)
He was taking stuff apart, cleaning stuff, turning wrenches, removing and replacing screws, drinking diet coke, did what ever I told him to do :rofl1:
He was working so hard, I had to stop him and take him down and force him to eat a BBQ dinner.
Was kinda funny he kept checking in with his family on the phone to let them know I didn't take him hostage.
It was a genuine pleasure to have him ride all this way to spend the day together.
I could learn a lot from this man.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it :well1:

Well to all of you who have been losing sleep waiting to know, The rest of the story: Two legs to my trip home; leg 1 - with rain all the way, at 75 (corrected) mph - 184 mi. - 4.8 gal = 38.33; leg 2 - mostly dry/last 100 mi warm, at 75 mph - 234 mi. - 5.89 gal = 39.72. He restored my joy when I am on my bike. The magician worked his magic but yet again. Learned a ton, cause he believes in teaching you how to fish, not catching fish for you :). I seriously seriously doubt I will ever let a dealership touch my bike again (unless I am stranded with no options and in 20 + yrs of riding STs that has never happened). My baby has been whispered and there is no going back! And that is my story!

P.S. Biggest contributor to improved milage, syncing the throttle bodies

NOTE: The Whisperer does not like my "Buick" windshield, so in the near future I promised to make a run with it all the way down and to measure the mpg impact it makes.

I did an experiment a couple years ago trying to hold a steady 60 mph (according to the GPS) with the windshield all the way up then all the way down. The difference in mpg according to the indicator on the dash was considerable.

Re: NEW 2012 gas milage

We are all very glad to hear that riding up to see Larry was a worth while trip! (not that there was ever any doubt! ;)

What do you mean there is no going back? Please say it ain't so, :please1: I would so like to see you ride up my driveway again, once whispered, bikes always return to spawn at OCD :rofl1:
And I promise not to call it a "Buick" windshield anymore.....from this day forth it will be referred to as the BIG :butt1: Windshield :scared2:

Considerable? Please tell.

Re: NEW 2012 gas milage

Shield up @ indicated 80 mph = 42-45 mpg.
Shield down @ indicated 80 mph - 56-59 mpg.
Tire pressure 42/42 - Angel GT tires - Honda Top box - EMT bag & flares in one saddlebag - Tools & clothes in other saddlebag.
Riding solo - OCD preload adjuster service & damping setting.
Stock shield.....after being Whispered of course :rofl1:

There are some things I won't do for better MPG. :rofl1: For me it's shields up @ 70mph for whatever mpg.
