Into The Unknown

To the guy that suggested rt12 to rt24, i wonder why you forgot to mention sand storms? Were you making a funny?
This afternoon i got tar snakes, big wind and sandstorms. I was down to third gear a bunch of times and sometimes there was about 100’ vis.

When i pulled over to pee, it never hit the ground!

But, all said and done, it was a tiring, slightly dangerous day, and i had a ball!
I missed at least 100 excellent pics.
Of course, i cleaned the red yesterday! There is no friggin way im camping tonight!

I heard you have to make reservations ahead of time now, can't just show up. I haven't been there in a long time.
No, you dont. Went thru without a hitch this morning. Im sure that will change soon tho. Last fall as i was leaving zion and the g canyon. the lines were terribly long.

Good, maybe just a temp covid thing.

No way they're paving the whole thing. If you're any place near 12 you just gotta do it. My favorite rode in the U.S. not the most technical but just beautiful and fun.

I have to say, rt12 is up with zion and brice during the week, beartooth and the Mojave. My fave rides! Ill remember today forever!

Hey this is Carl. Son and I ran into you in Ouray. We waited for 550 to open. Headed to Silverton and ST died. Got it started by shaking the fuel filter that was replaced last year and decided to head back to Grand Junction. Bike died a couple more times. Finally I rode it to Montrose without a seat one handed while jiggling the fuel filter with the other.
Put the seat on and it ran ok the rest way home.
With a new Honda fuel filter we rode a couple hundred miles today up to Rangely, Rifle, Debeque and home. Fuel filter was coming apart internally. Pulled the carbs off this afternoon, #4 cylinder running rich.
Wish you safe travels!
Carl

Can get into arches before 6:00 am or after 5:00 pm, which doesnt suit me at all. Went to Moab diner and had a great, cheap breakfast and a ton of people had a suggestion or two. So, i took rt 128 to castle valley and this great loop over the mountains.
Made arches look like a McDonalds.

My deepest thanks to Moab diner for the food and suggestions. A great bunch! 42C5EC48-6767-4E61-B318-4DD7AA5C84CD.jpeg65484404-D6C1-4260-96B2-A10B3BD0A68D.jpeg91D5B471-65F3-43CB-BAB6-FD9D2235D969.jpegC27EA4A3-BC5D-450F-8AC0-7133EFF7B1D2.jpeg17E47234-09D8-4880-B48F-246670608EB4.jpegF7EDBB6D-8FB9-459F-91FD-D67F84770570.jpegEB388F69-D2C0-4D23-9B91-54CF36BE0620.jpeg

For Arches you need a reservation but better make them 6 month in advance. Natural bridges is first come first serve. There are a lot of campsite along the Colorado River on both sides of 191 ( Moab) but they fill up fast.

Devils Garden Campground
Devils Garden Campground is the only campground at Arches National Park. You can reserve campsites for nights between March 1 and October 31. During this busy season, the campground is usually full every night. If you're arriving at Arches without a reservation, you'll probably have to look for a campsite outside the park. Between November and February, campsites are first-come, first-served.

Yea, its pretty busy here in moab. I cant believe its a monday. Im debating a ride back to green river for a motel or a risk south for camping on 191. Looks like a fairly warm night
