Went and picked it up today. When I was there to do the paperwork and finish paying for the bike, the guy that wanted to buy it (that I beat out) was in there also. I guess he had hoped to buy it today, but found out it was already purchased. (I left a $1,700 deposit earlier in the week, so there was no way from them to back out of that...well, maybe there was, but it wouldn't have been very pretty.. They had the guy looking at a 1984 VF700 Sabre, that they wanted like $2,500 for! 4:
Here is the write-up and there are some pictures to click on at the bottom:

Now that I have had time to really study this bike, there is no way it only has 5,000 miles, much less that 1,500 first advertised. I'm going to say I bet it has at least 25,000 on it, if not more. But, I think it was kept in good condition before it was crashed. (Anyone know of any ex-ST Owners from the Aliso Viejo area? I have the name, but I'm not posting it here.)
My assessment:
My 2007 Cop Instrument cluster works just fine. The ABS light will not go out, but other than that seems to work just fine. One thing that has me puzzled though. When I attached the cluster to my '04, it showed 37,717 for an odometer reading (the '04 had about 35,000+) at the time. So I figured the mileage is kept in the cluster. When I attached the cluster to the '10, it read 37,772??? What the heck? So at this point, I'm totally confused, because if the mileage is kept in the computer, that would mean my '04 is off as well and the true mileage for the '10 is much higher than thought. (even at 40K, these bikes have plenty of life left in them, but is disappointing it's not 5K or less...
One thought I have is that the Cop Instrument gives you the TRUE reading, where as, like our speedometers, being off, the odometers are off too? I guess I should attach it to my '05 and see what happens!
Lots of missing parts. I started a spreadsheet of the different sections that I'll be having to obtain parts for, to make it easier to track what I have bought and what I still need. I'm also including the Parts "Pictures" so I know what part number goes with each... trace-ability!
I'm pretty much missing the entire front and lower cowlings (and parts), including the windshield mechanism. I have the headlight, it is scratched up a little, but I also bought a aftermarket one off ebay I might use instead. It looks like I'll also replace the tank because it has several dents in it.
I've already started picking things up off ebay, mirror, rack, a few braces and stuff like that. I just need to be patient!
Me patient?
So if anyone has any parts they want to sell, ping me what they are and what you want for them (including shipping to 92563) and I'll let you know if I'm interested.
One thing I'm seeing on ebay, there are a lot of parts that some of these "Wreckers" want more than new for the parts! Really got to watch and compare prices!
It BEGINS!
