Will Ride for Pie
With the bike on the center stand, is there any pivoting of the wheel if you grab the tire and try to move it laterally?

Must be the water. :shock:Joe this is the 3rd U-joint that has failed in Texas in as many months. What are you guys doing down there?
Glad I got out when the getting was good.
I hope Honda is not sourcing the U-joints from the same folks BMW used.hmmm.... did they make a change in the U-joints?
(I know Curt's went south too).
Paraphrasing George...
I sure like my ST1100!
Not sure where that is... I'll check the manual.Gee Joe, even with my bad hearing I can hear it, are you sure its not the kinolian pin or related bearing?
Kiding aside Joe, it definatly sounds metalic in nature not a rubber squeakGee Joe, even with my bad hearing I can hear it, are you sure its not the kinolian pin or related bearing?
I can't say that is when the symptoms started, that's just the last thing I remember doing when I did replace the rear wheel.... one thing I do when I replace the rear wheel is spin it when I'm done... THAT is when I started seeing this and I've gone an additional 4k miles since...That is a strange coincidence it went bad when you replaced the rubber dampeners.
Can you post pics once you find out what the problem is?
I just went and checked mine and it is smooth with no resistance or kickback and no noise,,, Whew,, but it sounds like this may be a common problem with the ST's.

I think we ought to start calling him Dr. Strangeglove... :hyp1:Joe snaps those gloves on like he's done a lot of rear end work.
