Hello all! My late father in law purchased an ST1300 new in '05. He barely rode it, it has 744 miles on it. Kept covered in a temperature controlled garage. What kind of valuation would you guys put on it? His widow is looking to sell. Thank you all for any input.

I am in S Cal, so keep that in mind - things are expensive here. My 05 which had about 18,000 miles was totaled in a fire. The insurance company ran the numbers and offered me $4,700 using some motorcycles in Minnesota and Iowa that had like 80K miles, for comparison. I felt this was a 'low ball' offer because I was looking at ST1300's on Cycle Trader and a couple of 2007 models were in the $7k range. I ended up having to file a complaint with the California Department of Insurance, because they require a comparable vehicle from the 'local market' be used, not Minnesota, and I got close to $7k for mine. (lol - they were going to give me $3 for the Hondaline trunk in perfect condition, so I kept it)

An 05 that hasn't been started/ridden for a while is going to need some work, so keep that in mind. You just need to find the right buyer, people still love the ST1300.

Here is a link to a Cycle Trader search - they have an 06 listed for $7,300 in Sheboygan

Edited to add: there is a Facebook group that I joined just to see what ST1300's were selling for and I ended up buying a 2012 as a replacement for my 2005. You may want to consider posting there

A like new 19 year old bike!
If anyone (including the seller) wants to do any service inspections, or pre-purchase inspections, I'd be glad to assist in anyway possible over the white courtesy phone.
Good luck with the sale, beautiful bike.
Sorry about the owner.

These deals are of course very rare and a great buy for someone. I just purchased a 2012 Hyundai Genesis with 21000km on it. Stored in Canada by A US national who kept it in storage from before covid thinking covid would be over soon. Soon never came.

Sorry about your FIL…as for the bike, I would wonder if it still has the original fuel from 18-19 years ago as well as if there’s any rust in the tank. As others have said, it might take some $$$ to get it roadworthy but may be a good project bike for the right buyer (I suspect the ask price will be very dependent on if it runs and runs well- you should expect the price paid won’t be as high if it needs quite a bit of work to get it roadworthy again). I as watching a video on YT this AM regarding an original Honda Civic mini wagon that had something like 70 original miles on it- obviously fuel was old and it took some work even to get it started (but was carbureted, so maybe more work on the fuel system).

Here’s a link if you have an interest:
