This is my first summer as an ST1300 owner, so once the temps went up, the heat around my lower legs I enjoyed so much all winter quickly became quite uncomfortable. I looked for some air wings similar to what I had on my Goldwing, and was surprised that there are none on the market for the ST. So, this is my solution...
I gathered some RAM parts, including four 1" bases, and a couple short arms. Then I stopped at my local Lowe's hardware store to grab a small piece of Lexan (I think it was 8"x10") for under $5.
I cut two 4" x 8" pieces from the Lexan sheet, bent them as desired (Lexan can be bent cold), rounded the corners on my bench grinder, and drilled a couple holes in each for the RAM bases. Then I mounted everything to my ST as shown. The clear deflectors make them fairly unnoticeable, and if I don't want them on, they can be removed in seconds. With the infinitely adjustable RAM mounts, I can deflect the air however I like depending on the conditions, and as planned, they very effectively deflect fresh air right down the front of my legs, eliminating the undesired heat buildup. It is so much nicer riding in hot weather now!!!
