Speaking of tires: I saw yesterday a "Harley" branded K-591 Dunlop (old stye bias, available now _only_ with the Harley embedded in the sidewall.) $171 plus tax!!!! I used to buy those rear tires for <$80.

I have a set of STorms on the way to Adam's house, will pick'em up next week.

So the tires themselves have gotten cheaper, right?

Harley embedded: HD (Hundred Dollars)
bias-ply tire: $71 (you used to pay close to $80)
Total: $171

I have to agree with Greg, I have about 2K on my Storms now and the trip home from ONTSTOC was a mix of dry and light to heavy rain. The tires were flawless in the dry and were confidence inspiring in the wet. They are by far the best tire I have had on my ST. At 2K they still have plenty of life left I will see what happens after NNESTOC in 2 weeks by the end of NNESTOC they should be over 5K od mixed riding.:03biker:

After lots of riding on my new Storms at (and on the way to and from) EaSTOC, I'm very pleased. Time will tell about wear, but I rode in light rain, heavy rain, dragged pegs in tight corners and fast sweepers. They seem to stick in every condition.

I put on the Storms on my 1991 ST1100, ran 42 psi for life of the tire. The rear wear indicators started at 7,000, replaced with Bridgestone BT021 at 9,040. The center was not yet to the cords but started changing color (cap rubber is different than carcass.) The Storms feel good, mileage was acceptable. The front is barely worn, however it is NOISY, will replace with BT021, when worn some more.

Thanks Joe,

What kind of mileage did you get out of the Avon Azaros rear tires?

I have a new set of STorms on STick, rear has about 2,000 miles, front about 500. The previous tires (Azaro rear, STorm front) went 7K and 11K respectively. The old front was almost completely smooth on the left side, a little center tread, and the right wasn't even to the wear indicators. Wazzup wi dat?

Thanks.

I thought maybe Byron's lower rear tire mileage might be due to his proximity to hwy 2 ...

I'll probably run the STorms once and then look for an alternative...

On the ST11 the last set of Azaros went about 10,000kms front, 12,000kms rear. Front Avon wore very evenly, so quite impressed. I have a front storm on at the moment, 2,000kms and looks like new. Rear is a Dunlop D205 (got it for a trip, was available, good price) has not put a foot wrong in all sorts of conditions, but mileage will only be marginally better than the rear Avon. It gets the same saw tooth wear on the side tread blocks. If tread depth was measured there I would be in trouble! Next rear is a Storm I think.

I heard this was common on Goldwings and it's 'cause left turns are longer than right turns
