I just picked up a 2006 ST1300 and I really like it! I was wondering if there are any after market back rests out there? I've seen some on other ST's, but there doesn't seem to be any type of selection for them on line...thanks!

Welcome to the forum. There is a Honda rear bag or Givi bag. great for backrests.

Utopia makes one of the best rider backrests. On ST1300, it actually attaches to passenger seat, so can be used with custom rider's seat (I have a Sargent). Requires removing & replacing vinyl, but very supportive, adjustable. I used on Goldwings for 125K without a problem. So far 20K on ST1300 and very happy. website is utpr.com

I just picked up a trunk/backrest for my 2007 ST1300. It was $36 on Amazon, so I figured it would be junk, but I am pleasantly surprised how good it is. It is made of plastic, comes with a mounting plate that fit behind the passenger seat. It looks pretty good and holds a lot of stuff. I am thinking of spraying it silver to match my bike, but it looks OK in black.

Thanks everyone for the info! I should have been more specific that I have a Givi trunk with a backrest, however, I only planned on using it for out of town trips. I was looking for a small stand alone backrest to give my girlfriend a little more security and lower back support. I will research some of your suggestions... thanks so much!

If you're also looking for something for the passenger to hold onto instead of the side handles or reaching around you, try a rider belt. I have an Oxford and my wife and kids love it. It's also nice as they don't have to reach around me and when braking we don't bang helmets as much.

I'm sure it may be made by others as well.

I just picked up a broken 2006 ST1300 from a fellow forum member here.

If this is what you are looking for, PM me... I'm sure we could work something out...

Okay, which one on Amazon is it?

I made my own ( was originally made to fit my ill-fated R1200RT lemon , then I re-did the mounting to fit the ST1300 , making the mounting look bizarre now , but it fits )
it has cushy memory foam mostly + back pocket for kickstand plate , etc. :
