I wish my body was in good a shape as my ST1100s. ;)
If I were a car, I'd be in the junk yard and they would be parting me out!
I had a outpatient procedure Monday to try to clear an arterial blood clot in my left leg but the doctor could not punch through it.
The previous doctor did not want to do anything so now it is like concrete.
November 11, I go in for the 'replumb' procedure much like they do for the heart arteries except in the leg.
That sure will shut down my riding for quite a while as the recovery is lengthy including a hospital stay.
Please remember me on November 11 that things would go well.
At least I made it over a year without repairs and for that I am very thankful.

I bet you'll get through it in no time, you're a tough one.

Prayers for a good outcome and fast healing. Maybe they can grease the splines while they are in there.

Dang Phil...just as I'm catching up on your riding this year, sure puts a damper on my passing you! :(

Prayers for a speedy recovery when you go in!

Hi Phil:

I am sure you will do well through the procedure and have a speedy recovery.

I was into the "repair shop" myself two days ago - my ST 1100 tipped over in a parking lot whilst riding in southern Italy, and I was stupid enough to try and pick it up by myself - something I could do back in 2001 when the bike was new & I was younger, but something I can no longer do alone. I heard a few loud 'clicks & crunches' from my back, and felt a lot of pain. A few minutes later, some motorists came along and helped me pick the bike up.

I went looking for a chiropractor, and found one about 200 km away in Calabria. While sitting in the waiting room, I saw a degree on the wall from the same university I went to in Canada. Once we started talking, I found out he grew up in Canada, and moved back to his father's village in Italy to set up his practice. He did some work on me that improved things somewhat, although I am eating a lot of ibuprofen to keep the pain in check.

So, a "word to the wise" to everyone the same age as Phil and I: If your bike tips over, just leave the darn thing tipped over until you get some help to right it.

Technique is everything. The right technique doesn't strain the back. Demonstrated here (with curiously, an ST1100!)...

Lifting a dead pig

There used to be a rather petite woman named Carol Youorski (a.k.a. "Skert") who used to demo the technique at BMW rallies using whatever overstuffed bike someone wanted to lend for the demonstration.

Well Phil, you will likely outlive the doctor that couldn't punch through it.

Brenda & I will be praying for a swift and complete recovery.

Awww...heck UP - what a bummer.

Well, as Aunt Mildred would say, “Young man, you just buckle down, take your medicine and get right back at it as soon as you can!”

A few good stents and you will be running in no time! I wish you all the best, and hopefully you'll get a good supply of hot chocolate to get you through.
Cheers

Damn it Phil, do you have to party with the nurses all the time? Good luck with this party if you were a car, you would be a rebuilder because of all the new parts.

Good luck on the rebuild UP.
Sorry to hear your woes too Michael, hope it doesn't make the trip too painful.
I just watched the clip on how to lift your bike EASILY. My back Aches just watching it.
Again all the best UP.
