I got a Uni-Go hitch on Fleabay and two large Pelican cases from work. Made some brackets and got them mounted just in time to give it the final shake down before NatSToc and the west coast in July.
She is 78# at the wheel and given that the spine is way over done with 1 1/2" X 2 1/2" 1/4" wall stock I am happy. It is not an ultra light but I am confident I can follow George with out it breaking down.

Thanks Joe. We will see how happy with it I am when I see what it does to mileage with the boxes turned like that. With one box on the flat bed, turned the other way, I got about the same as usual. It will catch more air now maybe. I don't have my wind tunnel done yet so time will tell.

I is WAY more better. I got used to it quickly but the initial ride felt odd as the trailer had input at the seat level whereas before it was all low. I don't feel it any more. Kind of like a good pair of new shoes.
I have always scoffed privately inside when I read guys say they "don't even know it's back there", but I am now in that camp. Then again, I have not had this incarnation at speed and in a cross wind.
Come on up to Spring Green this weekend Tom. It would be good to see you. And while it is not Arkansas, it is very nice riding in deed.

Thanks Pat. All I can say is I am VERY glad I did not have to pay retail for them. There is some up side to working for a big company. One I got for free and the other I paid a whole $30 on an Intranet auction.

A little much you are saying there Dave? I have thought that on some trips I could dismount the front box and bolt on a flat bed. I don't really need all that waterproof space, but for now, I like it.
Doh! I just looked at the pics again ;>) no, they will be staying. But I could haul the Lincoln if I had to.

I could Joe, but I am not planning on moving anytime soon so I don't think I need to.
I would want to get more lights too if I did that as any more height and I will be blocking the bikes brake and turn signals.

When I looked at your first picture it looked like you had the barbecue hooked up behind the trailer! Looks nice but if you want to be like George you will have to carry a spare tire on there!!

It looks nice. Keep an eye on the bolts in that 80/20. If you are using the tee nuts, they will vibrate loose. You would be better off drilling thru the 80/20 and putting a small plate and nyloc nut on it.

There are several companies that make that extruded aluminum but the most popular is 80/20 http://www.8020.net/. I have used it in several projects. They claim to have "vibration proof" fasteners. Not a true statement. You have to periodically check the fasteners to make sure they are tight.

Thanks. That angle is covered. I used it only for it's weight savings and rigidity. I have a 1/4" x 1 SS plate top and bottom and 5/16 flat heads. The bottom SS plate is threaded and the nuts have Loctite.
