I've got and tested this chinese bluetooth intercom (got new version instead of that old, orange one on the top of right picture). Works fine, sound quality is good, but replaced speakers with my favorite KOSS Sporta pro ones anyway.
Max volume is enough (using it at 60% level aprox).
Easily connects to gps unit, cellphone. Tested intercom connection with couple of other headsets, works fine too (don't remember brands, need to check). Has FM radio, but I prefer listen to music from the phone because of the low quality of FM broadcasts.

61$ usd. Cheap!!

We go beyond those ulcers sticking out the side of the helmet...
Cooperation of Sena with Schubert and Shoei (or vice versa) resulted in fully integrated & invisible systems, completely hidden inside the helmets.
Not as cheap though, but not exposed to the elements, no wind drag/noise, easy setup via phone app, voice command/conformation...

Back OT:
The other alternative would be to rip all and everything out the ST (and NT), obtain two Garmin Zumo 369 units (AFAIK the last halfway normal working model) to use this as navigation aid and music player...
con:
- big, heavy unit (how & where to carry)
- issues with mounting
- additional costs for cradle, brackets, wiring
- additional costs for my Sena BT headset (Shoei Neotec)
- no FM stereo
- no TA
- no redundancy
- BT bike to bike might not have the range of PMR radios
- drive app puts additional strain on the phone battery
- helmets will require charging every evening

pro:
- BT bike to bike enabled
- two identical GPS units (which still might provide diverting routing results)
- larger GPS screen
- drive app providing live traffic information (which could kill your carefully planned route, hence could be a con)
- any destination found on Google maps (i.e. accommodation) can be send directly into the GPS

anything omitted?

Anyway, I found a kit that would serve my purpose...

That BlueTwin is bike powered and has stereo plus an AUX input...
The Sena 10U (for the Neotec) is currently on sale for € 150,-...

Decisions, decisions... :think1:

Well, the cornerstones are set... err... bought...

GF has her SC10U (for Schubert C3 pro) for € 190,-
I just got the 10U (Shoei Neotec) for ridiculous € 129,- (retail 299,-, so I ordered a second one, either for the other Neotec or as spare...)
Next to come is the Sena Freewire, €185- (retail 270,-), will see how to integrate this into my audio/GPS setup...

PC app installed, firmware upgrade (& basic setup) on headsets done...
Pone app installed, toyed with the settings...
TBC...
(neumodisches Klump, neumodisches...! ;) )
