Here is my tire after 1 month and 5000 miles. When I left home for the Guns and Hoses trip this tire had over 50% of the tread left on it. We had planned to ride about 1800 miles on this trip. I never would have guessed my tire would go down to nothing so fast. Pressure was never below 42 psi. I still had another 500 to get home after this picture was shot.

I made it home with no problems. I would not recommend this tire for the ST1300!

Yeah I would not be happy with that either... no way.

They do make an 023 GT (Grand Touring) spec, for heavier bikes. But it doesn't look like they make it in the ST1300 sizes.

If I still had an st1300 I'd be emailing bridgestone requesting they make the GT spec or just buying the 020's. Why they don't make them in ST sizes is just odd...

Mine has 6,000 miles on it now, looks just like yours.

I have noticed a little jig in the handling when going into a tight turn, sometimes it's unnerving.

Looks like Conti Road Attacks have a tire for the heavy-weights.

I may try them out if Bridgestone does not come out with an 023 for the ST.

Yep, mine looked the same at just under 6K miles. It was wore heavily on the left side like yours, cords peaking through at the middle and lots of tread left on the right side.

I replaced it with an 020. I think I will go back to PR2 though. While I like the 020 it is a PITA to mount.

Here are pics of the 023 that I pulled.

That's terrible. Luckily you didn't have a failure with it on your trip.

Looks like it's back to the PR2 eh?:D I have about 6K miles on my PR2's and they're barely worn. Unfortunately, I won't get to see how many miles they would have gone.

I have a set of the Shinko 011 Verge Radials that I will be installing on Wednesday to try them out.

I may be looking at installing a car tire on the rear also! You know going to the dark side :think1:

I would say so far the PR2 has been the best tire so far other then the noise they make going off center.

Hmmm .... I just took a very worn out BT023 off. I got about 11,000 miles out of it! For the last 1500 miles it was badly cupped but all in all I've had a very different experience than you guys :shrug2:

The mileage disparity's are interesting. I got 11928 miles out of the 023 I took off today, and still had a millimeter of tread left before hitting the wear bars, with no appreciable cupping.

I too got over 11,000 miles out of the rear '023 tire. It's amazing the variation in mileage people receive out of this tire.

Twisties may be~must be one of the logical variables in the tire mileage equation? Most of my miles are two-lane touring miles, with some moderately aggressive twisties thrown in, when my route(s) takes me through them.

So, for my choice of roads and riding style/technique, I'm well pleased with the 023s - Mounting that rear stiff-walled sucker is another story, better told in an adult's only, un-moderated forum. :D

023's front and rear-7500 on the rear, hard to tell it's not new. I use the TPMS; 42psi cold, goes up to 48-48.5 on a hot day.

I ride hard in the twisties, hitting the pegs frequently if I don't shift my weight. and I'm no light weight at 225#.

But with all the horror stories, esp. raven's, I doubt I'll be going with another set.
I thought Raven was running Avons?

My bad guys, I mixed up two different threads. I was gonna get the 023's, they were out of stock at the time, ended up with the Avon II's, like Raven's.

No excuse, maybe just a long day????

Wow not good but I have had similar mileage results with several other tires.
Not to get personal but how much do you weigh and are you using a top box and how loaded were your saddle bags? -JEP-

190 with a top box on with not much in the top box or saddle bags.

I have had a PR2 front tire that lasted 16,000 miles, PR2 rear that lasted 14,000 miles with the worst PR2 rear went away at 8,000 miles.

The stock Bridgestone 020 lasted 10,000 miles.

I was just shocked to see how fast the last 50% of that tire lasted. David was riding with us and his 020 rear was just about down to the wear bars when we left and I was worried about his rear tire lasting not mine. At the end of the ride his tire looked better then mine and he road the same roads.
