If you're going to be riding a long distance, probably a good idea to replace them or you may have to change them on the road.
10,000 miles is impressive with what tread you have left. Are those Bridgestone T31's?

Don't I recall you stating your last trip with new tires had no flats, but the trip before with half-used tires you had like four flats? If so, I'd think you already know the answer to your question.
I know I'd buy a set considering how far you typically go because to me the definition of adventure doesn't include figuring out where to stop on a highway in the desert with no shoulder.

If you have to change tire on the road, they may not have exact match, and you’ll spend 100-150 bucks on a tire you’ll soon need to replace anyway.

You are almost correct. It was a new 31, but i had a lot to learn. I had taken to stopping in the safety lanes for pics and picked up a ton of debris. The final straw was a chink of razor blade.
def my fault and a expensive learning expeience.
thanks for the feedback. A previous comment about changing on the road sealed the deal.
im ordering slippers and pads this week. A littleunexpected expence, but another friggin learningopportunity! Ill be happy if i never use my towing insurance!

Change them before you go as you will not get another 10,000 miles out of them.
Which means if your trip is of any length, you will be forced to do a tire change on the road.
Those are normally expensive and you don't get the tires you want because most places don't stock ST1100 tires.

Yep I'm facing a problem like yours. Have about 12K miles on my oem front Bridgestone tire and I usually get 15 to 16 out of em. Next month I have an Atlanta Georgia trip coming up all total when I get done riding total trip will be close to 2K more miles so I'll be close. I think the people who say replace before you go are correct. So I'm going to follow their advice and get me a new tire ordered before my trip.

Have u thought about the 32’s instead if the 31’s? Im curious. The 31’s were more than fine.

I know a lot like 31's and 32's but my non abs ST1100 requires bias tires and I tend to stick to the Bridgestone G548 and G547's that came as standard equipment. The only tire that I've been running for the last 21 years. These tires are like the ST1100 as they are dependable last long and give good wet weather traction.

Don't tell the bike if you run radials and it will never notice .... - BTDT - thousands of miles! ;)
I bought a brand new ST1100 and it came from the factory with radials ...

I have about 8K on the factory spec Excedras, and they still look great. Considering the Commander/45 combo next. But then again, I'm not complaining about the Excedras either, they have been great.
