You better take cover.......cause you just smacked the hornet's nest with a stick. :D
Nah,

This one should be easy, comparing just the 020 and 021's..
Lets keep it simple folks, anyone have a comparison between
these two tires??

I've had better luck with the OMEs for mileage and handling over the 021s.

Possibly my weight, north of 300:eek:4: has a lot to do it.

The front 021 was way noisier from the get go and showed cupping after only 5k and was completely bald at 8k.

My only complaint for the rear 021 was longevity, of the two I had they were both shot under 4k.

My best combination so far has been 020 on rear and a Avon Storm up front.

Thanks for the quick responses guys and gals. And the final verdict is....??? I'm suprised that 021's a little bit cheaper than the 020's. Go figure.

I recently purchased my first set of 021s from SoloTotoCoyote's shop, I have about 1000 miles on them. Only thing I've noticed so far is that the front tire doesn't seem to be as "progressive" as the 020s when breaking loose in an emergency stop type situation. The 021 breaks loose more sudenly than I remember the 020s. I had two sets of 020s both wore out at 6k miles. Yet to see what I get with the 021s.

You folks were good enough to mount and balance the tires for me. I had them off the bike. You asked if I was familiar with the forum, I said that I was but didn't spend a lot of time on it. This is the greatest place to find out what you need to know!

I ran 2 sets of 020s and now on my second set of 021s. I like the feel of the 021s alittle better but I got better wear out of the front with the 020s- The sides of the 021s definitely wear faster for me.

Ok.....Now I remember you!!! Sorry about that. I was killing myself trying to remember seeing another ST come through for tires and completely spaced the loosemounts.

I'm on my 4th set of 020s. I had 1 set of 021s.

The 021 feel fantastic...for the first 3k or so. Because of the dual-compound, they wear rather oddly and right away get to feeling scary. My 1 set was put on just before the 3 Flags rally (5k round trip), on my 1100. When we got to Canada, a friend on an '05 1300 showed me his front tire. He only had 5k on it, but it was toast. Totally smoked. He did make it home (Medicine Hat to Vancouver), but he was tentative the whole way. Mine only had 3500 mi on them at that point and were starting to look the same way with the odd wear pattern (high, square "lump" in the middle of the tire). By the time I got home, they too were toast. And the worst part was the handling anomolies. The bike fought to go into a turn, then wanted to stand itself up the whole time. Until that is, I went deep into a turn, then it would all but fall over. Aweful aweful feeling, especially with the wife on the back at this point. I had to shave the rear 1/2 way through our ride back home, it was getting so bad. But, YMMV! :shrug1:

Here's a photo of a "typical" BT021 with not all that many miles on it:
That's an ugly tire. Does anyone know if the other dual compound tires suffer the same odd wear patterns?

Ref: Dual compound ?

I'm going to find out. I just recently put a set of RoadSmarts on. At the moment I REALLY like them but they only have 1200 miles or so.
