I have a BT 020 front and a PR2 rear in my garage. I am due for a tire change in about 1000 miles. Anybody see an issue with running a 020 front and a PR2 rear tire combination, or should I go order a PR2 front and a BT020 rear and have two matched sets to choose from?

I think new tires of any combination are better than worn tires that match from the same manufacturer. I've seen enough posts from people running different manufacturers tires on their bikes that it probably doesn't matter much.

In my experience with both the 020's and the PR2s, my guess is if you run that combination, both tires will wear out about the same time (mileage wise). When I ran the PR2s, I could have run the front tire probably for another 3-4 thousand miles more than the rear (note: I got great mileage out of the rear tire also.)

I'm sure someone will chime in here shortly with a different opinion. ;)

That is my thinking as well, people do it all the time. I cannot see why it would make a big difference, but figured it was worth asking.

I am running a Avon Storm front and a PR2 rear because an Avon rear was not availible on a Sunday. I don't have any issues with it but will put a PR2 front when needed. Really like the Avons but no one seems to stock them if you need one quickly. Needed something that day as was leaving on a trip and did not have time to order.

IMO.....sell the 020 and order up a new PR2 front.....the PR2s just ride sooooo much smoother.

I am running an 020 on the front and a PR-II on the back right now due to an unplanned rear change last fall.

No problems but I am putting a PR II on the front next week.

FYI - The BS 020 is still availible, you just have to ask for the "OEM" tire. It is my understanding (you european types correct me if needed) that the EU spec is tire specific, not rating so the manufacturer must certify the bike with a specific tire and on the 13, the BS 020 is one of two certified as of now. The 021 is not certified under the EU spec.

Now the 020 U is discontinued...

I've got a Roadsmart on the rear and PR2 on the front.. other than crappy Roadsmart wear, no problems.

Thanks everybody for the input. I am getting ready for a trip from Chicago to Dallas, and want to start that on fresh tires. Need to be in Dallas June 2 for work, so rather than fly I will take a few days of vacation and get a bunch of states for my National Parks Tour.
