Yup...dash branding.

Usually happens when the bike is parked facing NORTH.

I assume you're referring to the bikes orientation if you live in Iowa, where the bike is probably parked in the garage for a few months a year
Actually, it's very likely that my ST was parked facing north when the sun took its toll. For <$25, I think I'll just bite the bullet and buy a new dash.

I decided to bite the bullet and get a new dash, after starting a feeble attempt at a repair. Ordered a replacement from Ron Ayers, ~$25 + the 4 small push pins, +shipping. Figured I may as well do it right. I could hardly believe the replacement cost of an OEM windscreen - $320+! Are the aftermarket screens priced anywhere in that neighborhood?

Looks like an excellent idea. I would rather have a $16 cover disappear when my back is turned than a good riding jacket. I wonder if one of these will stay in place while riding in the neighborhood with the screen all the way down
