Pug, hi! ...Is that all you did to the bike?
Sounds like lean running.
Larry, I had not run the bike for a few months and the carbs were gummed up.
Are the carbs all seated properly on the rubbers? Are any of the rubbers cracked? They are cheap to buy new ($8 ea?)

What year bike? Did you note the Jets installed?
I agree it could easily be the Carb insulators "Boots" "Rubbers" unless you replaced those.
Did you set float levels across all carbs and synchronize the Carbs?
Any hose ends that don't connect to anything? All vacuum hoses connected or capped with no cracked rubber?
