I'm running a Michelin Commander II on the rear of my ST1100. Only 4K on it so far but still looks pretty new.

Anyone put a Commander II on the front of an ST1100? I believe the ST1100 front tire spec is 110/80-18 and there's a front Commander II that's 110/90-18. Thoughts?

Will check on the clearance.

I guess someone added the search link... is this automatic added to every thread? I did search quite a bit but didn't find what I was looking for.

I doubt it will clear
130-80 is 104 mm tall.
130-70 is 91 mm tall
110-80 is 88 mm tall
110-90 is 99 mm tall.

Of course that is all based on nominal dimensions. Individual tire manufactures each seem to use their own individual scales for measuring.

I put a 130/70-18 Activ on the front of mine (1300) and it fit just fine. Same size in a Pirelli Sport Demon and it just barely, and I mean barely, clears. The little rubber nubs were grinding groves in my fender and the tire itself re-shaped my FenderExtender.

The tire is still on there after I scrubbed the nubs off. But each time I roll over some gravel or loose asphalt I can hear a new scratch on the inside of my front fender.

Well, I'm running a 110/80 BT45 on the front with about 12k on it. I've got about 14mm clearance between the tire sidewall (not worn) and the front side of the fender. I've got about 17mm clearance between the top of the worn tire and the top inside of the front fender. Looking inside the fender, near the forks, looks like I've got about 12mm clearance on either side. Clearance in the back of the fender is much greater all around.

So, if the numbers posted by T_C are correct (should be... 90% of 110=99), I "should" have clearance for the 110/90, considering it would be ~6mm closer to the fender at the top of the tire leaving ~8-9mm clearance on a new tire.

Make sense or did I miss something?

I did miss something... my calcs were wrong... the clearance will be 11mm, not 1/2 that. Now, I'm not so sure I'll have enough clearance.... George is probably right about rubbing.
